Folks,

Juan Loco is a member here and my grandfather. He has asked me to list a few items as he has poor internet connection and would like to liquidate a few unused guns. For your consideration is a Merkel 470 with a pile of components. It has a set of claw mounts as well as an RMR mount put on by JJ Perodeau. He has shot the rifle a couple times and made one trip to Africa.

-15” LOP to the first trigger
-23.5” barrels
-Extractors
-RMR mount
-30mm claw type removable rings

Included components include:
-50 new primed Federal brass
-20 new Hornady brass
-98 new Norma brass. (Some pieces have slight oxidation due to a water heater leak. Would clean up in a tumbler)
-8 Woodleigh softs component bullets. 500gr
-50 Swift A-Frame component bullets. 500gr
-100 Barnes TSX component bullets. 500gr
-27 rounds of assorted loaded ammo
-2 pieces of used brass
-RCBS reloading dies

$8,750 for the package plus shipping from my FFL to yours. Payment method is cashiers or personal check. Payment must be verified before shipping. Located in South Central MO

I finally catch a double within minutes of it being posted, at a time I shouldn't buy it lol. Good look with the sale but you won't need it. This will make someone a happy hunter!

Those are not claw mounts which is good given they are a real problem. Excellent price and value!!!

Those are claw mounted rings. And why are they a problem?
They are almost always attached to just one scope so if you want to change the scope special rings must be made versus the flexibility of other platforms. I had one with them and saw the limitation

Somebody please buy this before I get divorced!

These sure appear to be claw mounts to me. Don't let that scare anyone, if they buyer wants a scope on this rifle all you would need is a straight tube 1-4x of 1-6x scope. You will find one that will fit and give you the proper eye relief and be able to tip off the rifle. I have have a half a dozen rifles or more with claw mounts and I prefer them over swings. Yes there are limitations to them but on a 470 I doubt anyone would want a scope on one with a large objective anyway.

Good Luck with the sale! That's a good price for all that is included.

My bad...there are different types of claw mounts. The ones I have learned to avoid are the ones that directly attach to the scope permanently...you cannot just open the rings and put in another scope. These you can do that so I have learned there are different types of claw mounts. I stay away from the ones I cannot easily swap out a scope.

I'd consider buying another rifle but it would involve moving to a different state. Washington State and its California transplants have screwed purchasing a gun for anyone except a criminal.

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
