Lets See Your Upland Shotguns

A nice ND double with the Thomas Bland, pheasant and hun. Hun numbers were incredible this year.

I'd take a picture of my Ruger Red Label 20 ga, but it's buried in the back of the safe waiting for next September

Nothing fancy for me, just a CZ Bobwhite side-by-side in 20 ga. It points and shoots more naturally for me than the O/U Browning Citori I was using previously. As others have said, chukar and hun numbers were unreal last season.

For upland, a gun that I'm not afraid to drop in the rocks is important. Chukar don't live in nice places.

@Challer and I keep looking for a set of Blaser F3 20 bore 28" field barrels, but so far have struck out. Until then, I'll have to suffice with 12 bore 30" barrels. Have to thank my wife for picking out the most beautiful piece of wood in the shop when we picked it up.

Not real pretty but definitely deadly. I probably shot more pheasants this year than most guys will kill in a lifetime. Plus a dozen Huns and a couple of sharptails. And that's just this year.

The old A5 can't take all the credit though. My current Lab is absolute deadly on uplands. She works close, points, and she's extremely stealthy. Also the "happiest" dog I've ever owned. And I've owned a few.

And her mentor, 14 year-old "Puppy". Little stinker hunts like a dog half her age. And a cancer survivor too.
I’ve got a couple Belgium made very early 12ga A5’s as well as a Remington model 11 in 16ga.

I grew up shooting 870s but my favorite is a well balanced O/U with single trigger...

Recently I purchased an EJ Churchill 12 bore. 25" barrels and 5 lbs. and 11 ounces. 16 were built in 1929. Just took a pheasant earlier in March over a friends dog. What an experience!

Love it Bee. I have the same gun, I have the Briley inserts for all the gauges, but I want to eventually get all the barrels. I do most of my bird hunting with 28 gauge these days.

I dearly love looking at the fine guns in this thread, but at the same time saddened that no sxs or o/u shotgun is currently manufactured in the U.S., with the exception of a few small custom houses that are priced higher than my budget allows.

Savage used to produce an economically priced 311, and Winchester had the marvelous model 21. Ithica and several others produced fine double shotguns, but all the average consumer has available at his local gun store are made to a very low grade in Turkey, etc.

Nothing against the fine guns made in Italy or even Japan, as I own several.

My heart longs for a standard grade 28ga sxs for quail and pheasants. Manufactured in New England if possible.

I also use quite a few, but these are among my favorites.

Most are doubles, but this thirties era Heym has accounted for a lot of driven pheasants and several wins in the pigeon ring.

This is a modern 20 bore hammer gun by Lucchini equipped with a safety. It gets a lot of use on doves due to fairly tightly choked barrels.

And this wonderful old 10 bore Lindner has taken hundreds of geese and ducks in Canada and along the Eastern Shore.

I also have a fausti o/u but it doesn’t have enough drop to fit me well. I’ve considered trying to bend the stock. Anyone have any experience with that?

It works, but I would find an expert to do it. JJ Perodeau is my go to gun maker on any double.

Oof…that Lindner is fire! I have long wanted a Prussian built Lindner…10 bore hammer gun with Damascus tubes.

Awesome gun. Sold in the US by Golcher around 1888 - crossed pistols and HAL under the barrels. It is proofed for the 1 1/4 ounce 2 7/8 inch load. No. 2 bismuth or soft shot for geese and no. 4 or 6 for ducks. Hits with authority.

I’d really like a nice SxS, but have some other wants ahead of it. I mainly use my Benelli performance shop ultralight. If I’m feeling frisky I’ll use my cheapie Turkish SxS. Bottom pic was my first 3 shot, 3 bird day. Got into them in drifted over cattails and couldn’t miss

That's it. The crossed pistols indicate Prussian build as you know. The 10 ga 2 7/8 is one of the "squarest loads" around. They pattern so well. Some were built for upland use and handle like a proper field gun. I've gotten close but never found the right one yet! Yours looks great.
