I think everyone agrees that additional weight mitigates recoil. That is why I color coded the 10.5 lb (green) and 11.5 lb )yellow) columns in the chart I posted in this thread on page one.

Adding 10% more weight reduces recoil by 10% and so on...
How much recoil one can handle and shoot accurately depends on the person.
How heavy a rifle one can carry in 100 degree heat for 10 miles a day also depends on the person.
Perhaps this is why the moderately recoiling .375 H&H weighing about 10.5 lbs with scope is so popular?
