Agreed 100%, but my coolest hunt in the cape was for Kudu and we were hunting and orange grove, it was cool watching their horns through the trees as they came in to eat, but the best part was when I shot the Kudu it dropped right there on top of a monkey that had to struggle to get out, Priceless!!! Plus pretty cool watching them swallow oranges whole.

I had a similar hunt in 2014 when I shot my 52” eastern cape kudu over oranges and lots of monkeys. My Ph was very excited for the 52” cape kudu, beautiful animal. I watched monkeys take the oranges back in to the trees, peel and eat them, leave the peelings in the trees so when they left it looked like an orange grove ready for picking, most memorable.

61" Free-Range Kudu bull hunted in NAMIBIA

It's with great pleasure that the Kowas Hunting Safaris team can announce that we have successfully harvested a 61" FREE-RANGE kudu bull in our area.

This was a great old Kudu bull.

All by himself in the middle of the rut.

This is a once in a lifetime trophy! Great hunt. Great clients. Superb area to hunt in.... We are blessed to say the least. It's an honor to be able to hunt kudu bulls, but this hunt and trophy cannot be described in words.

Kudu are really tricky. These are four 54" bulls taken by clients in central Namibia with Jamy Traut during the course of the 2011 season. They all score within a half inch or so of each other.

The first and third are particularly deceptive.

You can see it though. I have a pretty good eye for inches having spent a good share of my working life as a carpenter. It easy to see that all four of those are over 50 inches. I do the same when looking at all these pics, envision 12 inches as many times as I can, taking into account the depth of curl and try to see the inches. There are some so called 60 plus inch kudu in this thread that just are not, and its fairly obvious. A "50" inch kudu I shot in Namibia some years ago, is actually about 46! Tape it was measured with had been broken off a few inches, then repaired and didn't get separated from the good ones. I suppose such things happen.

Agreed. One in particular is not even close.

This is my best one - taken in Namibia in '08. He is a classic 55" bull. He looks a bit better because of the mass, but you can't stretch him to 56".

Tony, can you please tell us about this kudu? Which country is he from?
He comes from Limpopo, South Africa close to n place called Rooibokkraal, he was hunted on a 5500 Hector ranch, he was over 200kg dressed weight. He is my personal biggest Kudu hunted. I have a friend and fellow partner in our company Kannas that have hunted a 64" Bull a few miles from this one. Last year we were so lucky to have harvested 3 over 60". This is a Fare chase hunting area but it is fenced. I hunt open and high fence and I see no difference between the two. Most important I am not a Hippocrat.

I think he meant "if only" he could see one that nice on a hunt in the limpopo. that's a solid kudu bull. Congrats

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
