John Sharp's New Book Facing Down Fear

How are Kevin Thomas's book and which titles? Thank you.

Tim I finished reading Facing Down Fear yesterday. Without a doubt the author has led a very interesting and adventurous life. Thanks again for your importation and distribution efforts.

How was the book? Any information on calibers or cartridges or instructive on how to hunt big game or only his adventures. What ratings would you give to the book. Thank you.

Definitely not a "how to" book. Think vignettes.

Some of the vignettes are even written by others...namely John's good friend Lynn Everts and also John's older brother.

ive got it,will start reading it tomorrow.

It is a very good read. It is packed with short stories and well written.

Tim: I know you are bringing John Sharp to the AH dinner, but for others not attending the dinner I thought I'd post this info.

Shame he's not coming to Houston

I am enjoying the book too. I thought he was older: but just a year older than me:eek:. Thanks again Tim!:D

Thanks again Tim, great book! See you in Dallas.

I still like the Honey Badger story the best! :)

FYI - Unless they sell before, I will have a couple of the limited, signed and numbered hardcover books and a very few (maybe 5) soft cover books with me at the dinner, that will be available to purchase (in addition to the books that some of you have already spoken for and plan to pick up at dinner).

We will also be giving away a soft cover to a lucky attendee. So be nice to me and you might win! :)

I just finished it as well. Great stories!

Hello can you post a copy to India if it's not a problem. I can send the money in your given account. Thank you.

I am sold out!

I am meeting John and his distributor for dinner tomorrow night and will try to get more books.

Mailing to India might be a challenge! I will check into it and let you know.

Did you want a hard cover, or a soft cover?

A few notes:

John is in discussions for a possible second printing...the book as been well received!

A number of folks have been surprised by the format of the book. They were expecting a more "John Sharp centric" book and were surprised there was as much about other folks as there was - even to the point of John's Brother and long-time friend having their own stories printed.

I have been trying to put my finger on what makes John Sharp such a special and unique fellow. I think I am beginning to figure it out.

John represents the intersection of a ton of self-confidence forged through experience on the one hand, and an unusual dose of humility on the other.

Those two traits, self-confidence and humility, are often somewhat opposed to one-another. They do not often exist in great measure in the same person.

They seem to, in John Sharp.

John will say he is just a regular guy who has been blessed to be able to live his dream. This may be very true. But in this case, regular does not equate to common.

I was treated to a three-hour dinner with John last week. Our discussions were far-ranging....from bullet selection for buffalo (yes Cody, A-Frames) to Theology, to Politics, to Wildlife Conservation, to what makes for ethical hunting.

We prayed together, we wiped tears together and I can honestly say that I am so very glad that I did not let the temptation of chasing price sway me from booking with John. I cannot wait to share a fire with him after a long day of tracking in the BVC.

I am beginning to see, first hand, why he has had such a loyal following of experienced hunters from around the world.

Hurry August!

Tim

Just finished the book yesterday and I thoroughly enjoyed it, very entertaining. My PH was telling me stories about Sharp when I was in Zim the first time in 1996. A real character.

Thanks again Tim for seeing that we all got a chance to enjoy this book, you da man!

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
