In memoriam - Theunis Botha

Condolences and prayers to the family. RIP.

RIP. Our thoughts and prayers to family and friends.

So sorry to hear this shocking news.
Philip

I never had the honor of meeting the man but have met many like him.
To his family: My condolences and prayers. May you be granted peace in this time of loss.
To Theunis, wherever he may be: You died doing what you loved, not many men can say that. Peace and joy to you on the other side.
To the horrible, heartless "people" who are spewing hate: He wasn't hunting Elephant you morons. He died because he was trying not to kill elephants.
Another family man in a trade that we may not appreciate fully sometimes paying the ultimate price. Here is hoping this is the last time this year.

A picture I snapped at the last SCI while having a visit with the man himself. Great guy! I am grateful I had the honor of meeting him personalty, even if just that brief time.

Condolences to his family and friends. Stay strong, the hunting community is with you.

I only had the opportunity to exchange a couple of emails with him. Such a sad tragic loss. Our prayers are for him and his family.

Very sad, two respected PH s to die in the past couple months. Prayers to all family and friends. Rest in peace gentlemen

@cagkt3 , I have not heard of any fund, but will find out.

I think the most efficient would be if DSC Frontline has an account open for his family.

very tragic, may he rest in peace.

I overheard some co-workers talking about this yesterday and the things they said made me so angry I nearly lost my cool (which would have cost me my job).

ABSOLUTE LOSS... our condolences to Theuni's family and friends.
News here in South Africa says he was hunting with clients in Zimbabwe, near Hwange. They were charged by 3 elephant cows.. Theunis started shooting.. a FOURTH cow came from the side and attacked them.. lifting Theunis into the air. One of the hunters shot and killed this cow, but unfortunately the cow fell dead on top of Theunis!!
VERY SAD AFFAIR.....

I was even asked about this at the dentist yesterday as they know I hunt Africa. At least the office personnel were respectful of the man and his passing.

Sad to report the passing of Theunis Botha. His wife confirmed on their FB page he died in a hunting accident in Zim. There are no further details of the circumstances at this time. I hunted with Theunis in SA and Botswana. He was an excellent PH and world-class houndsman. Thoughts and prayers for Carike and the children.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
