I'm finally retired - Another Chapter Closes

Congratulations on your retirement.

Thank you for your service.

All the best in your future plans!

Congratulations Brother!

What a great milestone to have reached with plenty of exciting plans in place for the next phase.

Sounds like you are certainly not going to be one of those folks that 'expire when they retire'.

The .416 Rigby is a fitting retirement gift.

A great cartridge for you to bring down here and tip over a buffalo with ;) .

Congratulations on both the 416 and retirement!

I love these stories, as I am getting close myself. I retired once from the military, but this next time its going to stick! :)

CONGRATULATIONS to you and Mrs. Para on your retirement! To top it off, you’re getting a very fine Ruger .416 Rigby rifle from a very fine gentleman in @krish. I sincerely hope you do get the chance to hunt a buffalo in the near future with your new rifle. But for now, relax and unwind. You deserve it!

congrats to you sir, well earned were you enlisted ,officer or civilian service. its an adjustment for sure.

Congratulations on your retirement , may you have many happy years of hunting and shooting in your retirement , and may the buffalo hunt become a reality . All the best !

I was enlisted, retired from the Air Force, then Civil Service, and that is my new retirement. :)

Congratulations on your retirement, looks like you’re going to really enjoy it. Can’t wait to read about those trips and hear about the buffalo hunt with Wik.

Congratulations. Also, that .416 is also good enough for an elephant. A tuskless elephant hunt at Zim costs the same as a buffalo hunt.

What a ride! Well, the date finally arrived, as of yesterday (30 Jun 2024) I am no longer employed by the Federal Government, and I am officially retired. It's a bittersweet feeling, but I believe the time was right to pulled chocks as we say in the Air Force. My parents were able to witness the closing of this chapter in my life, and I couldn't have been happier. They saw me spread my wings and join the Air Force in 1983 and leave the safety of their nest to serve and defend this wonderful Nation that graciously opened her arms and embraced us as one of her own. Here I am at 62 1/2 years old, and they were here to witness this special events.

What's in the future you may ask? Well, I'm not sure yet. But I do have a huge laundry list of honey dos from my wonderful Mrs. PARA45. Will I get another job, well, I may in the future, but for now, I don't think so.

It has been an honor to serve, defend and protect this wonderful Nation. I hope the young NCOs I mentor will carry this torch and continue to defend and protect our fragile Nation.

As a going away, my wife said yes to purchase a rifle from @krish, so I was able to purchase a beautiful Ruger RSM in 416 Rigby. She also said that if we could afford it, to hunt a Buffalo with the new rifle. I'll post pictures of the rifle later on. Here are some pictures of the festivities. Enjoy!

CONGRATULATIONS on your retirement, I look forward to reading your report on the Buffalo Safari. Many thanks for the years of service to our country, if you and the Mrs. find you way to South Texas, come spend the night on me at the Reserve Ranch.

Congrats! Quite an accomplishment

Congratulations on your retirement after so many years of service. As Redlegs said, stay busy. I know I found after retirement that I had so much to do that I couldn't work out how I previously had time to work as well :) However, none of us know what is around the corner. Don't put off doing the things you want, tomorrow is guaranteed to no-one.

Congrats and thanks for your service to our country.

It always troubles me when good ones retire with the new crop of woke leaders.

Congratulations and welcome to the retirement club.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
