Depends what dg if it is forest buff and some cats and forest plainsngame a Bergstutzen 9.3x74R/7×57R would be perfect......from duiker to forest buff......22" barrels....Krieghoff or Blaser....the 9.3x74R is a very underrated caliber.....

If you prefer having a telescopic sight on hand, then I highly recommend quick release detachable scope mounts.

For jungle use, most shots are taken at close range because of low visibility situations in the dense foliage. Game present themselves in such scenarios that you need a rifle setup which you can simply snap up to your shoulder, instinctively line up your sights and pull the trigger.

Makes sense. I put talley quick release mounts on all my rifles. I've never done a Bongo, or forest buffalo hunt - not sure how similar my Mozambique experience would be to one of those hunts.

Other option would be a O/U double 9.3x74R one barrel quality expander the other a quality solid brass bullet....I would fit a ghost ring rear sight....

I also have an HK 940 in 7.64, a 375HH as well as an Express in 500 nitro.

When you reference jungle, I assume rainforest. If so a 375 H&H Magnum with a 20" or so barrel, stainless steel and composite stock would be better. That should take care of anything you encounter. If going after forest elephant maybe a 458 Win or Lott instead. You would also want a shotgun for the small duiker.
