Many of us forum members, (probably all members) are glad that you and your two fellow countrymen have joined us.
I believe I can safely say that we are eager to learn about what hunting in your country was like.

The wilderness areas of India look as if they might still hold many wild animals now.
I believe that foreigners are not permitted to hunt there any more.
So, we shall live vicariously through your stories.

I agree that the .338 Winchester is one of the best hunting cartridges available today.
Unfortunately, here in the USA, the excellent 275 grain bullet is no longer loaded by our ammunition companies.
However, the 250 grain loading is widely available here and is also quite excellent for large game such as grizzly bears, moose and bison.

Hello , it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance . Oh , yes . In 1972 after that nefarious cult of vegan tree huggers took over India , any and all forms of hunting are banned . Fortunately , l now live in Bangladesh where hunting is permissible , as long as you take written police permission and adhere to the bag limits. I see that you share my fondness for Winchester's .338 Magnum cartridge . It is my favorite calibre of all time . I predominantly handload my own ammunition . However , among factory ammunition , my favorite is the good , old Remington Core Lokt cartridges , using 250 grain soft nose bullets . Not the most modern bullet , but a true classic and l have been using them in my .338 bore rifle for thirty years . What brand of ammunition do you prefer ?

I agree with you.

I also consider the caliber 338 to be a very practical caliber for shooting medium to heavy game. As far as the bullet is concerned , I also use for decades a plain 250gr SPBT/Game King bullet from Sierra in my FN Mauser rifle caliber 340 Weatherby Magnum. I shot with this bullet between 0 and 500 yards game like Ibex , Wapitis and Muskox. I load my own ammo.

Kurpfalzjager , it is a small world indeed ! My own Winchester's .338 Magnum rifle is also built on an FN Mauser action . The Fabrique Nationale Mauser action is my personal favorite action for rifles in the whole world . I load my own ammunition as well , although now and then l also use Remington Core Lokt soft nose ammunition. A time honored classic.

It is good that you now live where you can hunt.
I moved away from a place (California) here within the USA for similar reasons.
Hunting was lawful there but becoming more and more restricted/difficult/expensive.

Yes, I am fond of the .338 Winchester (and the .338-06 as well).
However, I no longer own a rifle in that caliber.
When I had moved to Alaska 37 years ago, I bought a Ruger Model 77, .338 Magnum and paid extra to have an aperture / peep sight installed on it by a Gunsmith.
Here, where we have moose, bison and large bears, the .338 Magnum is very popular.

I hunted with mine for a time but, eventually sold it and bought a .375 H&H.
The .375 has become my favorite hunting cartridge of all.
However, if I instead had a .338 Winchester, I would be happy enough.
I like them both.

Like yourself, I like the “Core-Loked” bullet for general purpose hunting.
Also, I did like the Speer brand 275 grain bullet.
Sadly, Speer no longer makes that one.
About 10 years ago, a hunting companion of mine shot an old bull eland in South Africa that weighed about 2,100 pounds.
It so far is the largest Cape eland I have ever seen.
He used the 250 grain Core-Loked factory loaded bullet from his .35 Whelen which, gives lower velocity than the .338 Winchester Magnum does with the same weight bullet.
It worked satisfyingly very well.
The bullet was found when the animal was butchered and it was shaped like a proverbial “mushroom”.

For hand loading in any caliber to use when hunting big game, I believe the Swift brand “A-Frame” bullet is the best (most reliable / most predictable) bullet available today.
It is available in factory loaded live ammunition, in limited quantity for a very few calibers.
However, for hand loaders such as you and I, the projectiles are more commonly available in many calibers, here in the USA at least.
I do not know if Swift bullet company sends their products to Bangladesh or not.
If they do not yet, hopefully they will begin doing so soon.
