How many double rifles do you own?

I’ve got 4 with a Rigby Shikari 500NE being built . The 4 below are from top to bottom :
- 500 NE rising bite with snap underlever built by John Shirley in UK . Ordered by me in 2013.
- 450/400 NE sidelock built by Westley Richards in 1920. Built for a Maharana .
- 375 H&H flanged magnum . A H&H Royal made in 1929 and sold via Manton & Co in Calcutta .
- 303 British James Purdey sidelock non ejector stalking rifle made 1898 . Made for Viscount Chaplin . I will post photos of each rifle .

Magnificent collection sir! Thanks for sharing.

Zero. Now and forever.

I like old double rifles, but above all as collector's items. For their use nowadays in hunting, especially as client in Africa, I have an opinion, but this is not the topic and we have already discussed this controversial on the Forum. I own two old big bore double rifles because this sort of rifles is part of the battery of an old African hunter, even if they are mostly in the gun-safe. Nevertheless, this gives you a little experience in handling and shooting such rifles, especially the big bores, so that you can also have part of a discussion about. Ultimately, one also have to ensure that old rifles that have good served, have a home for they old days so that they don't rust in any corner or even get destroyed.

A 470 NE (left) & 500 NE. Like them both a lot but the 470 is for sale on GunsInternational. I used the 500 last year and plan to use it again for buffalo in 2026.

That is not an Echols rifle but a clone as it has the Echols stock and all the bells and whistles. Lon Paul who built the rifle does great work.
