Glad you had a great handling experience with coppersmith. Once again...the problem wasn't with the broker. Broker went above and beyond to try and fix the problem. I'm not changing from a broker that has been tried and true multiple multiple times. Simply wanted to let others know about potential issues with shipments coming into Houston if F&W don't want to work. Like previously stated, I'm US military and our systems do go down, but they aren't down from 0900-1900 like F&W claimed. Yeah I could have used a different broker that has storage, but once again DT Gruelle did everything they could to help even calling after I did to try to get fees waived due to a problem out of our control. Then because of the issue paid half the storage fee. Like said before, I've used them multiple times now and have a buddy that has used them a ton of times with zero issues on their end. If anything ever happens it's due to F&W not doing their part. I understand what yall are saying about using a different broker with storage, but as good as DT has been to me and friends I don't really want to change. Not to mention my taxidermist and where my capes are tanned are right down the road. Plus DT is cheaper than a lot of prices I see posted her for others!

You're right. A $200 snafu is nothing compared to the many horror stories I've read JUST on here that cost the hunter(s) thousands! I/we can imagine the MANY hundreds/thousands NOT on AH that we never hear about that have suffered a very costly taxidermy/export/import experience. I say stick with the broker you've used and trust.

A problem with any office, be it a Goverment one or private when those computers go down no work is going to get done.

They have no hard paper copies to fall back on if they can't print them out.

That in itself is a problem. In the military we have secondary and tiechary means. It's ashamed people are too lazy to do a little extra work!

It still comes down to the problem of not having the paperwork.

We now live in a world controlled by computers, if those computers are down there isn't going to be any paperwork printed out and without that paperwork nothing can be done.

Before I retired I worked insuch a world. Once all the computers in our main office 150 miles away went down. Because that we had no workorders to know what we were suppose to do for the day.

The boss just told us to clean our trucks and look busy. But none of the work that we were suppose to be doing got done.

I was a Special Agent for US Immigration (Originally INS and later ICE) for 21 years. When the computers go out - you CAN'T just do things by hand. It's NOT because of LAZINESS. You see, with the computer you have an electronic back up of everything you do. In the old days (before computers) yes - everything was done by hand with carbon paper. We then maintained the carbon copies in our record vaults. Extremely cumbersome. The US Government no longer maintains paper records. Think about how archaic that would be! We often have to produce copies of our work - for courts, for appeals, for denials, for audits etc. If they did your stuff by hand when the computer went out (hence no back up being created) and next year you requested a copy of that document - they wouldn't have one. Then you would be mad at them for that.

Well there are these really awesome things called scanners. Scan the hard copy in, then the problem is solved. Another option would be to keep the hard copies until issues happen then input the information soft copy.

I can understand what you are saying, but you shouldn't have a single point of failure for anything. Me being military, if something goes down and you still have a job to do, you go to secondary means to get the job done. This world has become some dependent upon computers its ridiculous. Same thing with people balancing checkbooks or even using a check. Yeah it may be archaic means, but its a proven means that should be fallen upon if issues arise.
