Well.....

I went with my lovely wife to SCI for the first time in many years. We have a buffalo hunt scheduled for June.

Walking into the hall, whats the first thing I see? The Rigby booth. Large neon lights pointing downward with a halo above (I may have exaggerated a bit here)

We walk up and I look like a kid in a candy store. The last thing I *need* is another rifle, particularly one that is WAY outside of my norm (super accurate, long range stuff).

I fondle a couple of rifles, wipe of the drool and put them back.

Then....a 416 Rigby sitting in the rack, looking like a puppy in a kennel waiting to be adopted. I pet it. It likes me. I put it back.

Wife says "would that be good for our hunt?". Uh, yeah.

I managed to leave without a purchase and now I wish I had filled out the adoption papers and paid for its shots. Given it a loving home where it would be used, but not abused. Never left outside in the cold alone. Fed regularly. Cleaned as needed.

What's a guy to do....?

Sigh.....

Steady on my good man!

Jason on here as @GENTZ SPORTING ARMS is wonderful councelor in that reguard. Look him up and he can ease your troubled mind. ;)
I was just gonna post this very thing. I second this recommendation! He will personally walk you through the adoption process and follow up to make sure you’re feeding it the right kibble.

I have to admit, after fooling (petting?) the Rigby I walked by Parkwest. They had a matte finished, synthetic stocked, 416 Rigby. Definitely apples to oranges, but it would have made a heck of a tough hunting gun, and easier on the wallet.

Unfortunately it was already spoken for.

As much as I would enjoy a .416 built by Rigby (particularly the earlier ones), consider something like the Dakota 416 Rigby. I've owned 2 and they are super accurate, well built, carry superbly and are very beautiful for much less money. They also hold their value well. They are a proper DG rifle.

You don’t have to spend 15k to get a great rifle. I personally think people are getting pretty caught up in the rigby name. Their 15k models are nothing more the a semi custom rifle just like Dakota/ parkwest. There are a lot of fantastic rifles for sale in the market right now for under 10k that are more desirable imo.

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John buzzardhilllabs@hotmail.com

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
