Hi from Central Europe

Hi again Jager_Ivo,

I missed the sentence about your .300 being a “tactical” rifle.
With that, I presume it looks “Military” ?
If that is so, perhaps some countries might not let you bring it for hunting.
I do not know for sure but, I would not take the chance if it were me.

Presumably, your .308 is more of a traditional looking rifle for hunting.
That is the one I would bring or, you could do as I do and use the safari company’s rifle.
Either way, you will have so much fun when you visit Africa that, you will want to come back again and again.

Cheers,
Velo Dog.
It is a sniper rifle Steyr ssg 04 in .300win mag. So I will use my .308 win with proper bullets. I thought 308 will be too weak.

Your .308 is somewhat light for eland and giraffe.
But otherwise, with a very well placed shot each time, using a 165 or 180 grain bullet, you will bag many species of African animals.

Welcome aboard Jager_Ivo. Can you post photos of your rifles? I'm not sure if your definition of "tactical" is sufficient reason to think it can't be used in Africa. The 300 Win Mag is normally more than welcome, especially when coupled with 200 Gr. premium bullets.

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
