HELP NEEDED To Find Scott van Zyl Gone Missing In Zimbabwe

Agreed. Just let the family grieve and heal during this tragic time. Im sure if the authorities find additional information we will all hear about it. Rest In Peace brother hunter.

May the good Lord grant Scott's family and friends peace as they say goodbye. My heartfelt condolences. I never met him but everyone described Scott as a good man and a good PH. There are too few of both in the world for us to lose one too soon.

Sad, I knew Scott..

Can you tell us what is going on with Scott's deal? What did police found and what really happened?

In June I have hunted with one of the PH's personally involved in Scotts' search and rescue operation in Zim. According to everybody involved (I'll skip all the details) it was just an unfortunate accident. There will be no further investigation.
RIP.

I too spoke with one of Scotts PH's involved and he said. "it is a mystery sir we will never know". Please everyone let Scott and his family have some peace

I can certainly appreciate the respect for Scott's family, but I think enough time has passed that someone can simply ask if the investigation produced anything. There's no need for arbitrary harshness, as if the slightest mention of the subject was forbidden.

Ruark: In my opinion, you are correct on all counts.

+1 - I have keep the family in my prayers the entire time. Although difficult I am interested in the same. We are all here to learn with and from one another including tragedy. Family still in my thoughts and prayers. Let continue support and serve one another.

Ok so there are a pair of shorts being posted on FB from a friend of Scott's reportedly showing a bullet hole in them. I have heard a little more to that's persons theory but for now only posting what was at least a semi public posting. Not trying to stir anything. I can't imagine Scott's family would not be aware this person was going to post this info.

Oh Lord, please let us keep this from the family; and KEEP THEM IN OUR PRAYERS.....

Enough time has passed. And I think for safety of ALL Hunters who's going to hunt in Africa it would be beneficial to know what happened to Scott. Let' him and his family rest in peace. But knowing what happened to him will definitely help save lives of people who are going to hunt in Africa in the future.

Chopped up the whole thing as I kept hitting the 240 character limit...
Found out the trigger word in the end... It was muzzle or velocity. dropped them and it posted.:)

2,822fps, ES 8.2
This compares favorably to 7 Rem Mag. with less powder & recoil.

*PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS FOR MY RIFLE, ALWAYS APPROACH A NEW LOAD CAUTIOUSLY!!*
Rifle is a Pierce long action, 32" 1:8.5 twist Swan{Au} barrel
{You will want a 1:8.5 to run the heavies but can get away with a 1:9}
Peterson .280AI brass, CCI 200 primers, 56.5gr of 4831SC, 184gr Berger Hybrid.

I know that this thread is more than a year old but as a new member I thought I would pass along my .280AI loading.
I am shooting F Open long range rather than hunting but here is what is working for me and I have managed a 198.14 at 800 meters.
That is for 20 shots. The 14 are X's which is a 5" circle.
