Robin Hurt and John Sharp or two of the truly extraordinary members of a very select club representing an older, better Africa who are all too quickly leaving us.
So is John Sharp a celebrity PH? I hear his name mentioned.
You are absolutely correct. One of the greatest of them all.Tony Sanchez Ariño is still alive, 90 years old.
Some names I would lists as "famous" are;
Robin Hurt, Tony Henley, Cecil Riggs, Lionel Palmer, Danny McCallum, David Ommanney, John Knowles, Tony Seth-Smith, Nick Swan, John Dugmore, Brian Hearne, Tony France, Tony Archer, Bali Iqbal, Alick Roberts, Harry Mueller, Gerard Miller- and the gentlemen from that era with whom I was fortunate to hunt with; Gerard Ambrose, George Angelides and my favorite Nicky Blunt.
In my mind, Mark Sullivan, while certainly "known" should not be mentioned with the men named above.
I just checked out Brian Hearne's books. Ouch ! From about $175 to $375.
John Sharp has recently published his book “facing down fear”.
If the old timers tickle your fancy the. Get the book “men for all seasons” that basically summarizes all the East African Greats.
From these I think only Soren Lindstrom is still alive. He was credited for taking the last photo of Ahmed the great Kenyan Tusker a few days before he died from a septic poachers slug. I met Soren in 2018 at his house in Kasane where I was hoping to buy one of his old rifles.
The EAPHA disbanded in 1977 or 1978 when Kenya closed hunting. Tanzania had previously closed hunting and was in the process of opening back up at that time. Tanzania required a National membership and wouldn't accept the EAPHA designation from what I remember.
I believe the following members of the EAPHA are still alive: Robin Hurt, Danny McCallum, Tony Seth Smith, Terry Matthews, Brian Hern, David Mead. @baxterb and @JudyB may be able to add additional information here. We lost Tony Dwyer and Nicky Blunt a year or two ago.
The following is also a good thread dealing mainly with East African hunters.

That was a wonderful evening, great stories and great company. I consider myself fortunate to be in the company of such fine men.@Bullthrower338 and I had dinner with Brian Coleman (and John Sharp!) this past winter....so you can add Brian to the short list above.
What a treat that was...dinner with three of the best hunters on earth (John, Brian and Cody!).

Does Coleman live in Houston?
......and to think, you have probably shot more rounds than any of them
He also has a book on Rifles which is rather entertaining. Tony along with Harold Wolf are credited for the revival of the 500 Jeffery.Tony Sanchez Ariño is still alive, 90 years old.
I have had the pleasure of being on two group hunts where Jonny Vivier was the PH in charge. I can endorse the goods things you have heard about him. In my opinion he exhibits all the good traits that PH’s should have!I'd add Johnny Vivier to the list too. Haven't hunted with him, but read and hear good things about him.
