Good Gun Deals This Week

Looks like a gun built on a standard length commercial action from FN. Evidenced by the cut out at the front for the 416 bullet to clear during loading and the right-of-action safety. They didn’t alter the bolt knob either.

Not a terrible gun, but definitely bottom of the barrel on minimum-viable for a 416 Rigby. For less than 3x the price, I think @VertigoBE 416 Rigby is worth about 30x the money.

Fully agree it is a very basic rifle. But if one would want a 416 Rigby, with a very limited budget. This might be an alternative to a CZ550.

My 416 Rigby was a bit more than three times that number though..,

I’m looking to make my first fine rifle purchase and I’m hoping to capture some real value with an R8 set. This factory new Blaser R8 African package 2 barrel set is about 20 minutes from where I live and probably a great starter set and is priced at $6500 including case and scope mounts. I believe I would also get a 5% discount from Cabela’s as a U.S. veteran and another 5% back in points from my Cabela’s business credit card, making the effective price $5850 . This seems pretty attractive to me.

There’s also a pre-owned mint condition (according to Cabela’s) R8 African Package for $6k, which would make my effective price $5400. Possibly even more attractive.

However, if this 5 barrel R8 Safari Luxus set is truly a fantastic deal at $16,550, I would spring for it.

I’m just too much of a rookie to have a very clear understanding of value on these rifles, especially not to compare the three. Thanks for your time and advice!

Both of those are amazing deals. I would only question why you would put it on AH because now all of us want it too. You better get your butt in gear!!! LOL.

Always good to see someone making a good decision about a rifle.

I am pretty familiar with R8s and can give you some perspective on the 5 barrel package. Take note that the 308 barrel is safari contour 22mm. That will make for a very heavy (at least front heavy) for that caliber. The 9.3x62 barrel is fluted but does not have open sights. It is very easy to send barrels to Blaser to have sights installed but I don’t think they can do it to a fluted barrel not originally built for sights. You can order fluted barrels with sights but they have smooth areas where the flutes end. No real comments on the other barrels. They look to be safari contour. Probably makes for a slightly heavier than needed 375 and slight lighter 500 Jeff. None of that is a problem if that works for you but thought this information might be helpful in deciding.

Thank you! Sometimes it’s nice to get a little validation when thinking of spending somewhere in the range of $5-20k .

Good catch. Never vetted it. But it did take me back to the main CZ page. Just came across in some quick research this morning.

It has a different domain registration than Cz-usa.com too. It looks scammy on many levels.

I didn't buy those 500j or 450R. Did not even look at them.

Gotcha. Hope all is well. I thought sure you doubled up on them. It would have been a great buy! I missed them as well.

I am recuperating from my cervical spinal surgery. Will be a while before I get to shoot.

Oh man, here is to a speedy recovery. (y)(y)

Kind regards
