Does anyone know the purpose of these? .. or what game are their used for ..
Thank you!

Use to be a black powder 577 nitro exptess with bullet diameter of .585.
Was a stoping rifle. After cordite and smokeless powder came about old timers started using lesser cartridges like 450.
modern rifles are made like 485 Nyati, and 585 Trynasurus.
They are not that much used as the recoil may exceed 150 ft/lb.

Ya, the .375 NE Flanged is a very fine cartridge in its own way.
It is somewhat similar to the .375 Winchester cartridge and sort of a .38-55 steamed up a bit.
Since it uses true .375 diameter projectiles, hand loading for it is not difficult.
Recoil is very tolerable.

Not an elephant getter but again, a very fine cartridge that works well with 235 grainers (such as the Speer brand semi-spitzer) and several brands of 270 grain round nose bullets, according to which weight bullet each individual double rifle is regulated for.
In single shots (and bolt actions, as mentioned by Red Leg), will likely work quite well with either bullet weight.(y)

Not a good gun deal, but a really good powder/primer/bullet/ammo rack!

I've bought several of these for my garage, usually with the wire racks for automotive and power tool storage. This week, for the USA folks, Ace hardware had them with the ballistic nylon shelves for an unbeatable $159!. (They were a deal at $229 on Amazon last week)

Why for ammo? Each shelve is rated for 1500lbs, total unit for 4500lbs! And they stack, including the stacking kit and the wall anti-tip anchor.

Just spent the morning building a pair of them and I *Barely* got all my ammo stacked on a 50"x96" doubled up one. But they are great.

They're still showing $200, but that's a serious shelving unit for the money. And modular too.

The price at Ace has changed up and down all week. Blaine’s Farm & Fleet has them for $169 as a backup option. Amazon is over $200.

Found out something weird as I ordered more shelving this afternoon. (Can’t have enough, can I?) Depending on which Ace Hardware you want to pick up the shelving you buy on ace hardware.com, the price is either $209 or $159. Literally, 8 miles from me in two directions are two Ace locations, the price to have it sent to one location is $50 cheaper than the other?

This is how they look in a reloading room, apologies for the mess but I’m still moving in:

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]
