Good Gun Deals This Week

@redbarn , that's good detective work!

I saw that Sako on GunBroker. I thought, if I were interested, I'd send the seller a message and ask for his phone number. A conversation can reveal a lot of unknown information...

Thanks,
Mark

I try to buy it. None of my credit cards went through. There is a problem with sellers listing.

Glad seen the above posts

I researched sellers other listings. Found several listed on various sites up to two years ago using same pics.

Gavin Gardiner has released his latest auction catalogue.

Lot 51 is a Blaser R93 three-barrel set, being: 6.5x55; .300WM; and .375H&H, plus a second, synthetic stock.

Estimate is £3,000 - £5,000 (roughly $3,700 - $6,150) +30% commission, plus any shipping.

I should expect this rifle to go at the low end of the estimate: there are difficulties in the UK with owning multiple barrels and we - or at least those of us with taste - prefer more classic designs.

Lot 52 is interesting as well: a Mauser model 66 - that's the one with the telescoping action - in .270 and 7x64 (NB - NOT 7x57, which is the .275 Rigby). It's not a very attractive rifle - the bolt handle looks a bit like a cock to me - don't let me put you off - but for those interested in buying rifles for investment, this ought to appreciate in value.

By the way, what has happened to Rookhawk? Come back, Rookhawk - we miss you!

I suspect that 416 Sako is being sold by a hacked account.

1. Last sale by seller was Feb 2019

2. Normal price is at least a thousand bucks more

3. Someone was trying to sell this exact rifle with exact pictures last month in Toronto Canada for $4,500

So stay far away from this "deal". Or call the Canadian seller SPON76 from last month at 647 686 7087 and see where he thinks the rifle is...
I am relatively certain those photos were taken inside of the beretta gallery in NYC - I am guessing it is a scam

We just had a couple of members on another board get scammed out of money on guns the seller didnt have.
At least one paid with Zelle and Paypal FF. Mods checked the IP address of the seller, yep, you guessed it.
Nigeria.

Every time I've seen anything for sale and zelle was a payment option it was a scam.

600 is too small for a 416 Rigby

Saw a CZ 550 in 416 Rigby today for $1,100. Not sure if that is a good deal or not. It was sitting on a rack on the floor, next to a Ruger in 35 Whelen for $1,200. Only two large bolt actions in the place. Both looked to be in good shape. Was at American Rifle Works in Tigard, OR. Place specializes in mostly Tactical stuff. I used them as a transfer agent for a Tikka T3X.
That is a steal!

$5600 for a Dakota in 416 REMINGTON with an integrated muzzle brake? That's not just full retail, its full retail of a deeply flawed weapon.

Here's the thing: If you're spending big money on a safari rifle you expect a magnum action. The magnum action allows you to use magnum cartridges (Rigby, Lott, Jeffery, Gibbs, etc.). By virtue of the fact the gun has been built to feed, load, and fire a cartridge designed to be squeezed into $500 guns (Rem 700s), most people just don't want it. Think of it as a $10,000 spoiler for your '88 camry.

So that's the first problem with the gun, caliber. The second problem is you need to cut off the integrated brake and recrown the gun. So in the end, you'll be out more than $6000 on a 416 Remington.

Pass. Hard pass.

Full retail for a Dakota from the most desirable era of their production? Not sure about that.

The brake isn’t a hard fix..

As for the 416 Rem Mag I think it’s kinda in the same boat as the 458 WM. Also, from what I’ve seen, you’re probably not going to buy a higher quality 416 Rigby for less than $8k? Unless it’s a Dakota. I think the price reflects that.
