Good Gun Deals This Week

The Gun Library at Cabela's Fort Worth, Tx has two Whitworth rifles, one in 300 WM and the other in 458 WM. The 458 WM is supposedly English made and priced just over $1100. In the same case are four nice stutzen Steyer Mannlichers, wood stocked nicely that all look just about unfired.
At the main store gun counter, the Tikka 3's start at $795 new in the black stocked version.

Looks like a chop and glue with a 70’s or early 80’s butt on it.

Yes, and they did a horrible job. However, how difficult would it be to get a new stock? I'm not after the collector's value of the rifle; all I want is a working rifle and weather this is a good deal or not?

I am not a vintage Rigby expert by any means but this seller has slashed prices on a number of vintage guns, including this .375 H&H. You can click on "see all listings..." and find the rest.

The Rigby on GI that I’m finding interesting is the 7x61 that was owned by Ken Waters…

Cool gun. Good maker. Great caliber.

Not sure that gets a Ross rifle to $9450 though.
It looks like a military Mauser, any idea why the ad says likely made on a Fraser action?

This is purely for your information and not a reflection of the seller (he gets some great guns) and this is an Estate in consignment.

They have very little information on the rifle and DID NOT get a Rigby letter. What info they have is from the deceased. The seller didn’t know (but checked) and it was originally a .350 that was rechambered to a 375 as the barrel still has 350 marks and load info. They don’t know who it was done by or when.

As @rookhawk would say, without further information, it’s now a sporterized Mauser bearing some Rigby markings.

And this is why you do your homework when buying! Good info and much appreciated.

You’re very welcome. Some buyers may think that gun is worth asking price knowing that information. Value is subjective and some tie sentimental value to something.

I didn’t post that to dissuade anyone, just wanted to make sure a potential AH member who might not have known to ask that question knew. That wasn’t one of the first questions I thought to ask. Another member suggested asking while we were talking about it and a Holland TD magazine rifle.

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
