German Kinetics - Silver Flames

I'm considering really adding some weight up front on my arrows with hopes of having plenty of horsepower for an Eland and possibly giraffe if the opportunity presents itself. That being said, i have been looking at Silver Flame broadheads for a while now. I know they are excellent heads, but my question is if anyone has shot them? They are pricey and i'd hate to invest in them (feels like it) before knowing if people have had good experiences with them. Anyone shot them? Pictures or stories?

It all depend on what plains game species you want to hunt and what your set up looks like.

Slick Tricks 125gr on a 450gr + arrow shot out of at least a 70# bow will do the job on any Eland you may encounter.

When it comes to hunting Giraffe its a totally different ball game, here we prefer to go really heavy. 80# + bow with a min of 750gr arrow tipped with a strong 2 blade broad head like German Kinetic's.

The reason for this is that if you have to do a broad side shot you have to contend with the very thick and odd shaped rib bones of a Giraffe.

For this you need to have max penetration....

Broad-head German Kinetic's it is possible to use on Bow or it is possible to use on Cross Bow?

I am not familiar with broad heads for crossbow's.

But if you can get the arrow to fly straight with the German Kinetics you will have an great set up...

Kristian,

Speak to your local pro archery shop about the arrows you want to use as well as the lbs you want to shoot the crossbow.

Then decide what animal you want to hunt.

If its not animals like Cape Buffalo I would suggest make use of the 125gr German Kinetic, this would provide an set up with excellent penetration and would definitely be a reliable set up.

I use broad heads in 125gr.-175gr..
It is enough to me for hunt on a wild wild boar, weight of arrow + broad heads for me makes from 435gr. to 500gr. at length of arrow 22".

I used a Mathews Monster bow set at 75 lbs and specially built aluminum arrows weighing 817 grains. The arrows were tipped with a 180 grain Silverflame broadhead, and they worked flawlessly. Best broadhead on the market in my opinion.

I understand your last sentence as a question. The Mathews Monster is a two cam compound bow. It is not a crossbow.

One important aspect in broadheads is a sharp cutting tip which this one has. I have used the similar looking old Bear broadheads on a couple of species and they worked very well. You will have no problem with penetration. The only difficulty I always had was to tune the Bear broadheads so that they fly straight. I am not sure how these will fly.

Then you have to look at the spine of the arrow.

If you have this in place you should have no problems shooting German Kinetic broad heads out of your crossbow.

I had a catastrophic broadhead failure with the GrizzlyStik product, they only have a 1 year warranty as I unfortunately found out. I will do a separate post on 3 companies broadhead warranties that I have dealt with over the last 6 months.

Tom- To answer your question, yes, they fly great and are not hard to tune. Used the 200gr for a hunt in Zim in 2015. Shot them multiple times into a Block broadhead target and still stayed razor sharp. Don't think you can go wrong with the original Silver Flames made by German Kinetics............
