Another long-awaited dream has finally come to fruition. The 6.5x68S has fascinated me since I first read about the cartridge 25+ years ago, so I ordered one through Heym in the SR30 Grand Royal model. The engraving is done in the Germanic oak leaf pattern and all the animals engraved on the rifle are European: Bear, Red Stag, Ibex, Mouflon, and Roe Deer. The wood stock has both checkering and oak leaf carvings. The rifle has extended top and bottom tangs, inletted swivel studs, and a cartridge trap in the stock for 4 cartridges. The rings are 30mm pivot mounts and the rifle will wear a Swarovski soon. The action, bottom metal and small parts are French Gray. The barrel is gloss blue with a twist of 1-9.5". I sourced some 6.5x68 brass from RWS in Germany and will soon develop a hunting load using Hammer Hunter bullets. The goal is to use this rifle on hunting trips in Europe and Africa.

Congratulations! That’s one of the most beautiful superbly engraved, elegant yet functional rifles I’ve seen posted here. Unfamiliar with the 6.5x68S, is it similar to the 6.5-06? Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful rifle, congratulations

Indeed a beauty.
Faster than a speeding .264 WIN MAG ?
Pick one Hammer suitable for your 1:9.5 twist and stick with it.
Hopefully closer to 1000 shots than 500 before you need a new barrel.

Beautiful rifle. I am usually not much on engraving and carving but in the case of that rifle it is well executed. Enjoy your hunts with it. My two favorite is the extended action tang and the bear on the bolt shroud.

Lovely work of art. I always wanted a 6.5x68 but never could figure out how to get brass.

It will be a laser beam out to 400 yards. No need for Turrets or range finders. Just point and shoot.

You should try to take an example of every species represented by the engraving with the rifle.

Sort of a euro Heym slam.

J D your dream rifle is beautiful. Did they provide you with any test targets or do we have to wait for the results from a range day?

Sir, I think I have been writing to you about the purchase of the HK 639 rifle under an email "Tt Jake." If this is you, then I am truly interested. I am just trying to verify identify. Tt Jake is asking for a cash transaction. No disrespect intended, Just trying to verify who I am talking to. Thank you. Respectfully. Dan

Hey my friend, I am returning to SA for a Cape Buffalo hunt in June 26. My outfitter has suggested Highveld but I have read some poor reports. Wondering how satisfied you were with your mounts from them? Thanks in advance.
Finally back to somewhat normal I missed reading the messages and posts
