Another long-awaited dream has finally come to fruition. The 6.5x68S has fascinated me since I first read about the cartridge 25+ years ago, so I ordered one through Heym in the SR30 Grand Royal model. The engraving is done in the Germanic oak leaf pattern and all the animals engraved on the rifle are European: Bear, Red Stag, Ibex, Mouflon, and Roe Deer. The wood stock has both checkering and oak leaf carvings. The rifle has extended top and bottom tangs, inletted swivel studs, and a cartridge trap in the stock for 4 cartridges. The rings are 30mm pivot mounts and the rifle will wear a Swarovski soon. The action, bottom metal and small parts are French Gray. The barrel is gloss blue with a twist of 1-9.5". I sourced some 6.5x68 brass from RWS in Germany and will soon develop a hunting load using Hammer Hunter bullets. The goal is to use this rifle on hunting trips in Europe and Africa.
