Free Booze and Food! January 11th, 2025

I just heard today that Bob Kern and his son are dividing up to show at both DSC and TTHA to cover all the bases that weekend. That should tell you something.
Yes that IS Big news!

Sorry, I can't make it which I'm sure will upset everyone greatly (don't slip in the puddle of tears). Can I have Skip-the-Dishes drop by?

Try to enjoy yourselves without me.

What's the point of posting that? That's a rhetorical question...there is no point in posting it.

Funny… we were just talking about that today…

Considering Juniors Cheesecake bites for a dessert…

For those unfamiliar with US restaurants, Juniors in New York is considered by many to be the best cheesecake on the planet…

Which will make you a diabetic in a heartbeat

I just saw the vendor list for TTHA Dallas. Lots of folks who regularly show at DSC. Not the same size as DSC, no "gun" area but the rest of the floor is full. The seminars however look awful. DSC really screwed up. It will be interesting if they can get back in KBH convention center once they leave Atlanta. I did not see Europe outfitters, so I will be most likely passing. Lots of Africa outfitters are on the list Dave you should have a good turn out.
Thats no gun area in ATL this year or in the upcoming TTHA Dallas show?

TTHA map shows that they are not using the area where DSC normally has the guns.

More cool stuff continues to get added to the door prize pile!

Thank you @Mark Biggerstaff for arranging a Streamlight Waypoint 400 for our giveaway!

This is the same rechargeable floodlight used at Bos en Dal for nighttime needs... built like a tank and bright like the sun.. Streamlight makes some extremely good stuff (FWIW I carried surefire and streamlight products exclusively during my LEO and MIL days... they're bombproof.. and mdwest proof products :) )...

Looks like ya'll are having a snowy welcome for us. We are heading south and were hoping for a bit better weather. We can handle the snow alright, just don't like ice. A bit uneasy about the TX drivers on the snow. See ya'll on Sat nite or at the show Friday or Saturday.
We are not far from the Marriot and can hook up with anyone on Thurs or Friday nites to chat and have a drink.

and another shout out and thank you to @Mark Biggerstaff and @R&M Firearms ...
we have a $150 gift certificate for R&M that we'll be giving away as a door prize!

You should have your nsme in there too

Steve from Mt Maker LLC (incredibly nice custom knives) has a booth at TTHA this year and will be attending the Bos en Dal party as well.. he has very generously donated one of his hand made knives as a door prize this year... I should have some pics to share of the actual knife soon... in the meantime:

Steve @ MT Maker has donated a BEAUTFUL hunter... CPM 154 Stainless Steel, Desert Ironwood handle, canvas micarta and ironwood spacers, with a satin finish.. 3 5/8" blade..

someone is leaving the @Bos en Dal SAFARIS party very happy this year!

I really wanted to go this year. But with the cold weather and sorry road conditions for a five hour drive, I’m gonna have to pass. Bummer.

Keep watching the weather… some channels are backtracking now saying rain on Thursday and MAYBE some limited snow on Friday… all clear by Saturday…

Another VERY COOL door prize has been added to the pile!

@Mtelksports hunted @Bos en Dal SAFARIS last year, and his wife took some pretty incredible photos of animals on the property.. She's had some printed and framed and has very graciously donated them... some lucky party attendee is going home very happy with these I am sure.. These will look super cool in someones trophy room!

For what its worth... the weather here is sucking.. but I think TTHA is likely going to be an extremely good show.. We went down to Kay Bailey yesterday and set up the Bos en Dal booth, and then went back down this morning to take a few more things and also take a better look around at the floor..

SCI has done a really good job I think in organizing things.. and it is DEFINITELY much more geared toward international hunting than any TTHA show Ive ever seen before.. LOTS and LOTS of very reputable gear companies and outfitters are present on the floor..

My guess is the roads are going to suck pretty bad tomorrow in the AM, but by mid day things should be clearing up fairly well (if you're in DFW now from out of town, consider sleeping in a bit and waiting until maybe mid day before coming to the show).. by Saturday based on the weather reports (clear skies and 40 degrees) I'd guess the city will largely be back to "normal" and Im going to guess the show is going to be super crowded and busy...

The party is definitely still a "go".. by Saturday night I'd expect even the back roads and neighborhood roads to be largely clear of snow and ice.. we're looking forward to seeing you all here!

When you swing by TTHA, you can find @Bos en Dal SAFARIS at Booth 7002.. Candles for Conservation is next door at Booth 7000, and MT Maker (knife door prize donor) is on the other side of Bos en Dal in booth 7004... stop by and say "hello", grab yourself a nice droerwors snack (Bos en Dal brought sausages!) and sniff some "Africa" themed candles :)

Interesting Dave I found similar at DSC Atlanta with just a handful of deer outfitters versus several when in Dallas and more Africa and other country outfitters in Atlanta. When I lived in TX for nine years no state does deer hunting like TX. It is truly an entire industry to itself. I shipped feeders and so much to my 200 acre total farm at one time. Today I have only kept 40. Know all of you will have a blast. stay safe!!!!

For everyone’s situational awareness…

We made the drive from Allen to downtown Dallas at 7]am this morning…

75, the main interstate that runs through the center of the city is completely clear of ice and snow already… it was an easy drive.. the downtown streets are all also clear… I don’t think anyone will have a problem getting to the show today..

may I suggest Intaba Safaris in the East Cape by Port Elizabeth, Eugene is a great guy, 2 of us will be there April 6th to April 14th. he does cull hunts(that's what I am doing) and if you go to his web site he is and offering daily fees of 200.00 and good cull prices. Thanks Jim
Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
