Free Booze and Food! January 11th, 2025

We’ll be there all day on Friday, Sat, and Sun :D

time for an update and to get a little deeper into planning mode now that Christmas is past and we only have 2 weeks until TTHA..

*** Correction to the OP... it looks like the show closes at 5PM on Saturday.. so we can get things started a little earlier than originally planned.. doors open at 7PM at the mdwest house..

**** Door Prizes are starting to flow in... I'll get a series of posts up over the next few days... but will start with this one:

@Bos en Dal SAFARIS is donating 10 days of lodging/accomidation for 2 hunters and 2 non hunters/observers anytime (that the lodge is otherwise not already booked) between March and October of 2025 or 2026. This covers lodging, meals, beverages, daily laundry service, and airport transfers from OR Tambo. Hunters can select any game they want from the published price list. Rifles or bows can be supported (whichever sort of hunt you want to do, is perfectly fine). This is a $9200 value when you consider the cost for 4x people in RSA for 10 days.

Numerous long serving members here have hunted with @Bos en Dal SAFARIS.. I think all will advise that the lodge is very nice, food is outstanding, quality of game is excellent, etc.. someone will be leaving the party extremely happy with this prize I think!

If youre planning on attending the party, even if you already have the address and have attended previous parties, please shoot me a PM and let me know so that I can add you to the guest list.. We're trying to make sure we have plenty of food, plenty of drink, etc. to go around... last years attendance peaked around 65 people.. it was crowded, but we didnt run out of food.. we want to make sure everyone is well taken care of this year as well..

Thanks!

Another door prize up for grabs...

I know that Dave is on top of it but I really look forward to having the forum handle and real name sorted out this year. It's a little weird to stand in the corner and yell hey I'm Green Chile! Dave asked me not to do that this year.

Know what you mean.

Looking forward to seeing everyone

If you stand in the corner yelling I’m green chile… that’d be pretty funny!

Thank you to @Mark Biggerstaff and @R&M Firearms for lots of SWAG to give away during the party... we've got several firearms related hats and t-shirts (Vortex, Leica, R&M, etc) that you guys will look awfully sporty wearing in 2025!

Im pretty sure some more of that "boutique" jerky is on the menu again this year along with some other goodies for everyone to take home with them at the end of the party...

:D

Did he say we will truly look awful? Just kidding…I’m excited to join you again this year. This party is really more deserving of the title soirée.

I just saw the vendor list for TTHA Dallas. Lots of folks who regularly show at DSC. Not the same size as DSC, no "gun" area but the rest of the floor is full. The seminars however look awful. DSC really screwed up. It will be interesting if they can get back in KBH convention center once they leave Atlanta. I did not see Europe outfitters, so I will be most likely passing. Lots of Africa outfitters are on the list Dave you should have a good turn out.

I just heard today that Bob Kern and his son are dividing up to show at both DSC and TTHA to cover all the bases that weekend. That should tell you something.

My daughter arrives on the 29th from South Africa, she'll probably want to make it back for our second time to this awesome event. If so, we will have her boyfriend with us, so three total.
We had a great time last year, looking forward to making it this year if possible.

@mdwest thanks for the invite Dave you can count me in again this year. PM incoming

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.

may I suggest Intaba Safaris in the East Cape by Port Elizabeth, Eugene is a great guy, 2 of us will be there April 6th to April 14th. he does cull hunts(that's what I am doing) and if you go to his web site he is and offering daily fees of 200.00 and good cull prices. Thanks Jim
Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
