Favorite Safari Hat and Rifle Sling

I wore a $10 boonie hat that I got from Amazon and really liked it. Not only did it keep the sun off, but it kept thick brush from slapping my ears too.

For the sling I didn't use one. The brush was too thick and so I just carried my rifle. I took a sling and it never even made it to the truck. It stayed in my room. There is too much of a chance of having the gun slung at the wrong time and way too much brush to catch on for me to use a sling.

I did the same and my PH wore a cheap boonie as well. He says lots of people with half an ear in SA from baseball caps and skin cancer

The correct answer of course is an AH hat lol.

My sling is always a cobra style sling adjusted for a quick arm wrap on an offhand shot. Cobra sling is not ideal for the arm wrap but even with a twist in it, it still steadies me up just fine and is far more comfortable to carry than a narrower sling.

Well, if you are gonna hunt, might as well do it with style. ;)

Boonie hat. Been with me everywhere warm that I've visited in the last 10 years and gets used all most of the year at home. My brother in law writes the name of every place he's visited on the underside of the brim and he has quite the impressive spiral. Wish I'd done that.

I use a Galco safari Ching sling. I like to sling up to shoot whenever possible and this works well for me both for carrying and shooting.
