Favorite Non-alcoholic drink

I’ll second that Bundaberg Ginger Beer ! Great stuff. However have found a sugar free alternative that I suppose helps towards keeping my blood sugar levels down.
I don’t drink a lot of soft drinks but I will take the sugar free alternative when available.
I don’t have a sugar level surprisingly but the doctors are watching me closely as I am 53 and wasn’t having regular check up’s.

When hot and thirsty hands down for me- Buko, aka coconut water

Any other time, especially early morning- good black coffee. Some of the coffee I’ve had in Zimbabwe and Zambia has been exceptional

Coconut ready to drink :)

Just had this on our construction site in Togo. Nothing better in that searing West African heat.

For a soft drink or cool drink etc then I like Bundaberg Brewed Ginger Beer. Nothing to do with the famous Rum but from the same town. They actually mix well .

The brewed ginger beer is alcohol free but it’s just a nice refreshing soft drink

I'm with you Chris. It's available in many places now.

Even WalMart online ;)

I also like 0% alcohol beer and gin.

Two of my favourites are South African - Devils Peak Hero beer and John Ross botanicals.

IMG_1533.jpegThis is one of my favorites. As others have commented on how much sugar is in most soft drinks I too watch how much I consume. But these guys are just so refreshing without all the junk.

Mornings: coffee with a hit of heavy cream

Generally soda water and lime

If I’m splurging: cane sugar Coke with lime

Not a coffee drinker but will have hot black tea with a bit of sugar in the morning with breakfast in Africa. The only soft drink I usually have on a regular basis is Coke Zero and occasionally, unsweetened iced tea. Otherwise, lots of water. I like 2% milk at home with lunch.

Carbonated water.

Coffee, different types of tea and rooibos, no sugar !

Not a big alcohol drinker. In order…
Drink more water than anything.
Milk or chocolate milk (2+ gal / wk)
OJ or grapefruit juice
Iced tea and sweet tea
Pop: Mtn Dew Volt, Mtn Dew, Dr Pepper (Coke overseas) I retired from 7UP after 38 years and still have the smell in my head.
Just a FYI: If Mtn Dew has too much caffeine for you, Sunkist orange soda has a little less, but still enough to keep you awake.

Favorite is 100% black iced tea no sugar, brewed hot and chilled. I usually some variant of English Breakfast for tea. I want it to be very dark almost to the point of being coffee colored.

Honorable mentions:
1. Apfelschorle, this is an apple juice and carbonated water beverage really popular here in mainland Europe. There are variants with lemon, orange, rhubarb, currents, and other things. If you make it yourself you can drop the sweetness down quite a bit over the factory bottled stuff.

2. Julmust, this is an interesting product. It exist on a plane with root beer, sarsaparilla, Dr. Pepper, Cream Soda and most importantly Pumpkin Pie. It is sold at Christmas time in Sweden and occasionally at Ikea in the US and other places. As a die hard pumpkin pie lover and someone who enjoys various root beer types, I really enjoy it.

3.Ginger Beer, there are quite a few of these. The one I am the most familiar with is Bundaburg. They sold this in Australia, and I have had it in America. It is way too sweet, I think this is a good candidate to put into carbonated water to tone it down.

4. Spetzi, this is a type of Orange-Cola combination but also a brand. The best one is made by Paulaner. It's really great.

5. Almdudler, this is an Austrian lemon zest with herbs pop that is kind of the national drink of Austria. They drink shit beer in Austria but this is pretty good. There is a thing in Switzerland called Flauder, that is similar but not the same.

Strange things I have met:

1. Beverly, this is at the world of Coca Cola in Atlanta and the Club Cool in Epcot.

2. Afri-Cola this is an over caffeinated cola here in Germany.

3. Rivella this is a milk based pop from Switzerland, it taste like sprite with a milk aftertaste. Yes weird. Comes in about 10 total flavors.

Sweet tea. Made by someone who knows how. McDonald’s doesn’t. Sugar water. McAllister’s Deli does. Nectar!
San Pelligrino and chilled pineapple juice, 5:1 ratio, I prepare a liter and drink it by noon.

Next batch as above with macerated fresh spearmint from my garden for the afternoon.

Next batch for an evening cocktail with Grey Goose with mint.

Single varietal Ethiopian mountain coffee next morning.

An interesting thread, and I appreciate all input, and I will pray for those that prefer artificial sweeteners over naturally harvested real sugar.
High fructose corn syrup aspartame, saccharine , stevia and other sweeteners are an Abomination!

Since moving to Texas. 6.5 hours does not count as a long road trip;)
My Boys & I drive 17 hours, it takes 2 days to the channel country in western QLD to hunt pigs , Schweppes bitter lemon is a good drink we used to take dozens of bottles of it with us . Australia is a vast country, we are going on a special Deer hunt with an old Army friend & his sons in South Australia soon, from QLD to his place in SA will take 3 days about 2000 km.

Rani is a fruit juice drink (brand) that is very popular throughout the middle east.. they are HQ'd in Dubai, but have production facilities all over the region..

I practically lived on Rani in 2004 when living out on the local economy in Iraq... I bet I drank 5 or 6 of the pineapple or peach drinks a day... not just because they taste great (they are truly excellent) and I needed the fluids (summers in Baghdad and Iskandariyah arent very pleasant).. but also for the calories and nutrients (we were pretty much living off of goat or chicken and rice 3 meals a day, every day, for about a 90 day period back then.. Rani was how we got additional vitamins, etc into our diets)...

you can get them via Amazon here in the US, but they are crazy expensive.. the last I looked they were about $50 for a case of 24 drinks.. I havent found them at any local groceries or other retailers.. I think in 2004 we were maybe paying $0.20 a can for them buying them from local shops and stores in Iraq..

Truly one of, if not my absolute favorite non alcoholic drink...

This was so random to show up now, and so helpful. I was explaining these drinks to my wife last night and couldn’t remember the name. Thanks!

Coffee is my hot go to as I posted previously. For a cooler try soda water with a few slices of lemon and topped with a generous amount of bitters. The first sip is bitters rich, then it diffuses through.

I don’t drink a lot of soft drinks but I will take the sugar free alternative when available.
I don’t have a sugar level surprisingly but the doctors are watching me closely as I am 53 and wasn’t having regular check up’s.
I have found a better ginger beer than Bundaberg its not as sweet, its called Fever Tree you can get it in Woolworths & IGA supermarkets in 500 ml bottles.

I drink a 16 oz mug of black coffee every morning.

I drink more room temperature tap water than any other liquid.

As a "Southerner," sweetened iced tea ("sweet tea"), plays a large part in our standard fare.

I try to avoid sugar , even though I don't have a glucose issue.

I use Splenda, if available, but if not, plain ole' cane sugar is just fine.

If you order "sweet tea" in the southern US, you will get tea supersaturated with sugarcane sugar on ice.

It may as well be the "Nectar of the gods," because it is really good, and it actually contains less carbohydrates than most soft drinks.

Coca-Cola (12oz) - 39g
Average "sweet-tea" (12oz) - 30g

With a few drops of lemon juice, Southern "sweet tea" is hard to beat!

Lately it’s been the Grape Celcius. It was the Lemon Lime but they quit making that flavor. Sometimes a guy just needs a little caffeine, 1,000% of his daily biotin, and 140% of his daily riboflavin, whatever that is.
