Cape buffalo, plains game
In Zimbabwe, I liked Schwepp's Lemon
In Durban, it was a Rock Shandy
All over Texas, iced tea (Lousianne the best)
In Dallas, Health-Ade Passion Fruit-Tangerine Kombucha
Anywhere on earth--an ice cold Coca Cola

What are you having?

Rani is a fruit juice drink (brand) that is very popular throughout the middle east.. they are HQ'd in Dubai, but have production facilities all over the region..

I practically lived on Rani in 2004 when living out on the local economy in Iraq... I bet I drank 5 or 6 of the pineapple or peach drinks a day... not just because they taste great (they are truly excellent) and I needed the fluids (summers in Baghdad and Iskandariyah arent very pleasant).. but also for the calories and nutrients (we were pretty much living off of goat or chicken and rice 3 meals a day, every day, for about a 90 day period back then.. Rani was how we got additional vitamins, etc into our diets)...

you can get them via Amazon here in the US, but they are crazy expensive.. the last I looked they were about $50 for a case of 24 drinks.. I havent found them at any local groceries or other retailers.. I think in 2004 we were maybe paying $0.20 a can for them buying them from local shops and stores in Iraq..

Truly one of, if not my absolute favorite non alcoholic drink...

Kombucha, got some homemade brew in the Eastern Cape.

Coca cola, with ice and a slice of lemon, in a glass. Normal coca cola, not diet, not zero, etc.

Depending on where I'm at, what I'm doing, and what's handiest, available, or offered.

High test only: (regular, no diet or flavored)

Hot Days:
Sweet plain Ice Tea home made or Arizona, Power Ade/Gator Ade, Deer Park Spring Water, Coke, Mtn Dew, and Pepsi and pretty much in that order.

Cold Days:

Pretty much the same as on Hot Days adding Coffee, Hot Tea.

Unsweetened iced tea has been in the number one spot my entire adult life.

Others: whole milk, water, classic Mountain Dew, coffee (black), strawberry Bubly...

Diet Mountain Dew... AKA Nector of the God's. I got addicted to regular high test Mountain Dew years ago when i would milk cows on 3rd shift, do chores most of the day and have to try and get field work done when I could, often late at night. Took a 12 pack of that dambed sugar and caffeine concoction with in the tractor cab. Had to switch to diet as my triglycerides went off the charts.

Just to further support how great this nectar is... when Reagan got elected and Nancy started her campaign against drugs. There was mandatory testing of all government employees. This included government scientists and researchers who had concerns of being able to pass a urine test. They quickly discovered that in chemical analysis as well as color and viscosity... Diet Mountain was the best urin substitute available!

This was all before I married @Just Gina There is no longer a justification for a Nector of the God's when you find yourself subservient to the Princess of All;) And having moved to Texas, every place we go has great unsweetened tea available. Gina has a really potent refined sweetener that we use for tea, coffee and lemonade:)

But I do still sneek a Diet Dew occasionally and substitute Coke lite or Coke Zero or Pepsi Max oversees;)

this is my "road trip" magic...

whenever I find myself on a long drive, DMD is the potion that keeps me awake and alert.. I'll go through a couple of the 1 liter bottles of the stuff just on the drive between DFW and Memphis (+/- 6.5 hours) lol.. When Ive got a truly long road trip like the one I made from DFW to Northern Idaho last year, I buy it by the case and am sipping on it from the moment I get behind the wheel until the moment I get off the road..

If I could buy it here, Schwepp's Bitter Lemon. But I can't
Coke on Ice
Fizzy water

Since moving to Texas. 6.5 hours does not count as a long road trip;)
