Duffel Bag

And what you really need is always at the bottom! I used flight bags for the last two decades of service. But now, if it doesn't roll, it doesn't fly.

Good point, what you need is ALWAYS at the bottom! The flight bag is much more convient but it didn't survive my kids. Somehow they destroyed the zipper.

For the visits to the range I use 5.11 bag for range small equipment and items.

For international flights I use diving gear bag, with set of wheels on one side, so it can be pulled when holding handle on other side. The size of this one is that longest fins for apnea free diving can get inside. Capacity maybe 100 liters, or more. Lightweight, heavy duty, waterproof, plastic reinforced on bottom, with additional straps to carry as back pack, or in hand. Heaviest load that I managed to squeeze inside was about 40 kg.

Red Oxx travel bags. They make all sizes. Very well made, rugged, and tough. I think they come with a lifetime warranty. Check them out.

You might send it back to Eagle Creek, they may send you a brand new one.

Use a big ol Cabelas bag, heavy duty nylon fabric, double handles, full zipper with storm flap and 3 buckles over that. Stout bag, probably bigger than I need but still perfect after 4 safaris.

I've got a High Sierra duffel I bought on Amazon. It's been on three Safaris and I think five elk hunts, and who knows what else? It has even survived two trips to @gizmo. It still looks pretty close to new actually.

Wheels are a must for me, but so is the non hard case duffel so that it can go in a charter plane or a weird spot in a bakkie.

The bottom end is also perfect for the ammo box to stand up in on way to Joburg, before they make me take it out. This is also the perfect place to pack heavy mountain boots.

It's expandable and has several different ways to enter. That's the only thing I don't like about it. Three locks are required, although I've got this down to two by looping to zippers together.

Oh and it also has backpack straps to carry it if you wish. I can't comment on them as I've never even pulled them out from the bottom to try them.

Hello folks,

Just an update on this.

I would like to send a big thumbs up to Eagle Creek and their agents in the UK, Scottish Mountain Gear (www.scottishmountaingear.com). Got in touch with them, spoke to a nice lady called Lauren, confirmed bag was covered under warranty and sent the warn-out holdall to them.

About a week went past and heard nothing, then got a call from Lauren apologising for the delay. She explained that the delay was due to there not being any blue bags in stock (as mine was) and would not be for sometime – so, would I like to wait or I could have an orange, black or green one now. 2 days later a new green holdall showed up.

Very refreshing to see a company that stands by products and warranty and agents give good customer service.

Big thumbs up to Eagle Creek and Scottish Mountain Warehouse

I’m what you might call a “utilitarian cheap skate”. I’ve used a WWII duffle (indestructible even for Delta) on a couple of trips loaded with backpack, sleeping bag, pad, ammo box, hip waders, clothes, etc, etc and just tied it to my rolling Pelican gun case to get to check-in. Stuffed the straps in the duffle and checked it in. Then to TSA with my gun. Reversed the process at the other end of the flight.
Guess I should help the economy and buy a new bag?

What a great way to kick off our 2025 hunting season in South Africa.

This beautiful Impala ram was taken at just over 300 yards, took a few steps and toppled over.

We are looking forward to the next week and a half of hunting with our first client of the year.

Do you have any more copies of African Dangerous Game Cartridges, Author: Pierre van der Walt ? I'm looking for one. Thanks for any information, John [redacted]

Out of all the different color variations of Impala the black Impala just stands out with its beautiful pitch black hide.

Impala is one of the animals you will see all over Africa.
You can see them in herds of a 100 plus together.

This excellent ram was taken with one of our previous client this past season.
