I know this an African hunting site, but I just had to share a picture of this mount.
When I finally got my first wood duck, it was naturally headed straight to the taxidermist. I discussed how I wanted the mount and when it was completed last week the taxidermist called to let me know it was ready to pickup. However, he was hoping to take it to a show/contest in California if I was alright with that. I just got a text and the following pic from him. I'm really looking forward to getting this mount home now. I'm guessing the taxidermist will want to keep his ribbons, but they sure would spruce up my collection of "Participant ribbons" that my athletic prowess has garnered me.

Absolutely stunning!

First duck I ever shot was a woodie.

That is nice. Never shot a wood duck. Only hunted waterfowl a few times and I have taken a few mallards and one goose.

That's a beauty!

Very nice!

Mine too...........about 43 years ago.

Beautiful mount!

Hmmm....

Probably 36 or so years ago for me? Don't remember exactly how old I was....

A very beautiful mount.

I also had my first wood duck mounted, that I took 20 years ago on a pronghorn antelope hunt in eastern Montana. After I shot him I wouldn't let my dog retrieve for fear of her damaging his feathers, so I took off my boots and waded barefoot out to get him.

I like the dedication to a beautiful bird, shown by your barefoot retrieve.(y)

When I was young(in the 1960's) I would shoot them on the creek that ran through our ranch. They were always a pretty/handsome duck. Never did have one mounted. Wish I had at times.
Nice mounts

Good looking bird

Stunning mount, love it!

Fantastic piece!

@Mac Baren, I live central to city of Cincinnati. I have work travel early this week but could hopefully meet later this week (with no schedule changes). What area of town are you working/staying in?
Kind regards
Ron
