@3chunter - nice taxidermy work and good choice having them mounted “dead” or “sitting” vs. flying. I’ve seen very few Flying waterfowl mounts that look natural. I now only do sitting or a dead mount and even then you really need to select the Right Taxidermist — much harder then doing a Deer Head. Nice Work on yours!!Just got my duck mount back from my 2022 duck trip.
The barnwood on dead mount come off a hog trailer from my families old farm.
The mallards was a guide but the rest were on our own.Love it! I used to be obsessive about waterfowl hunting and I never did have any birds mounted. I kinda regret that. My goal for this winter is to collect several breeding plumage birds of various species to have mounted.
Did you hunt with an outfitter?
@Elkeater - gonna be difficult to get Ducks in “breeding plumage” - they hit their best colors is March-April (especially Greenwing Teal) and that’s a bit after the Season….but a 2nd year or older bird in January looks damn nice and I don’t think I could tell the difference between then and Spring.Love it!
