Dip and pack finally complete, shipping question

A little bit off this specific thread, but does Turkish airlines charge a premium for shipping a Cape Buffalo skull/horns from Africa to the U.S.? I understand they’re the only airline currently which will ship any of the Big 5 trophies to the U.S. Thanks in advance!
I don’t think so, but give them time.

I shipped a Buff home via Turkish last fall, don’t recall any premium.

Just curious, how many miles was the delivery charge to your home? Mines gotta go about 240 miles. Just wondering what the freight truck ride will cost. Thanks!
I had one crate small 64 pounds delivered from Chicago to Mitchell, SD 641 miles for 300.00 2 months ago

to those on the East Coast Israeli Airlines might be shipping to the US per Badger Cargo

Sounds promising lol thanks

Well let's say I'm not happy with the bill.

From the port to my house is 210 miles shipping was quoted $1707.95
Entry Fee 907.92
Importer security filing 75.00
Exam Fee/cartage 2134.10
Duty 20.73

Total 4845.73

I'll pick it up myself for that price. I was hoping to avoid it, that is a lot of dollars to avoid going. So I'm rack up some seat time for sure.

Yeah I wouldn't be real excited about that bill either, are your crates pretty big?

If you don't mind what did your shipping cost come out to be total? I'm going to RSA and will only be shipping a few things back.
the cost from Condor was 1200.00 from Polokwane, Limpopo to Chicago then there was 450 for Coppersmith. do not use Yellow Freight in the USA as they are going bankrupt

I read about yellow yesterday. What did you end up shipping back?

Gemsbuck pedestal mount(no pedestal), Jackal hide, Blesbuck, Impala, Red Hartebeest these 3 were Euro mounts

People just need to realize that shipping is the big questionable cost of a safari as far as getting your trophies home. It just needs to be figured in as a cost when you are looking at a hunt. My first safari I just did a dip and pack and the shipping and clearing for 5 animals was around $3500, that was 7 years ago. This past year I did 3 shoulder mounts and 5 euros and the shipping/handling to my house came in at $4500.

I had the mounts done in South Africa just for the time frame and to save a little. But in the long run it is close to a wash having them done in SA vs here in the US. One way you pay more in shipping and the other way you pay more for the taxidermist.

@JimP did the 4500 this past year include clearing state side?

It included everything from the taxidermist in SA to my door here in the US.

Due to a couple cites animals the shipping was delayed a bit and but I should have the crate in the next couple of weeks to see just what the size of the crate is.

The shoulder mounts were a warthog, blue wildebeast, and a mountain reedbuck.

Up here dip and pack skins must be in a special leak proof container. That might also be the reason for extra crate. Skulls don't require it. I get my capes fully tanned there and sent over with skulls. Dip and pack hides are a huge pain in the butt for taxidermists/tanneries up here. Also, can expect more hassles for inspection.

I paid my freight outfit in Port Elizabeth $700 to ship by Turkish Air my crate of 11 plains game skulls, two tanned capes, and two tanned springbuck hides. The crate arrives in Toronto tomorrow night. No more messing with customs brokers. I've had it with those clowns. And Gardewine freight. Need to change their name to Twilight Zone Trucking. I'm driving down and picking the stuff up myself this time. It's a seventeen hour run (so says Google ... pfft) but still worth it. I drive 24 to 30 hours when I go back to hunt Montana so seventeen on the road should be a piece of cake. Had a bit of a snafu with African freight company fedexing the original CITES documents to my house. Hopefully will arrive today. Still unclear if Canadian inspectors will accept digital image documents. USFW will not. They require original signed. I will let everyone know how this works out. We need to find a workaround the middleman gouging or it will only get worse. If it doesn't get better hunters will be looking at other options instead of going to Africa. And there are other affordable options.

Luckily for me I'm more of a skull guy. Doing all mine as euros, getting a couple rugs and turning the warthog hide into leather. Anyone her have any guesses on the crate size for a warthog, impala, blue wildebeest, kudu and a gemsbok? Again just skulls and rugs.

Do you have any cull hunts available? 7 days, daily rate plus per animal price?
