Custom Safari rifle by Bill Sturtevant - 416 Rem caliber

Can we see a pic of the Mamba ? I actually like the acute angles of your shroud. Something different.

Dimensionally the mamba is identical to the reliant…. The mamba is made from 8620 carbon steel and heat treated specifically for rifle making.

The appearance shape and basic dimensions are identical. 8620 holds engraving better and can hold a higher luster polish, which is some thing desired on a lot of African rifles.

One difference between the two are typically the scope bases that are selected although every option that we made could be on either rifle. Most black mambas had integral Talley bases, those some had Weaver style or Burris Leopold style bases or a few other options. Most reliants got Weaver or burris style integral bases

well whilst it does dictate the style of rings to use, it also is a bloody sight stronger mounting (and slightly lower i'd imagine), than using some small screws to hold bases to an action

Yes integral bases are far stronger than screws even over sized screws…. And strength is the primary reason we put all scope bases integral. However a beauty and cleanliness of the lines are another reason. Talley rings or dual front and rear dovetail (Burris/leupold) were a favorite of mine for this reason, super sleek lines and very low profile

Had an excellent classifieds transaction with JoninCO. A truly honest and standup member. I wouldn't hesitate at all to deal with him again. Thanks, J!

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
