Since you asked, I will give my opinion. The flu shot is much less effective than the COVID vaccines, and the yearly flu is much less deadly. I still get the yearly flu shot because I hate being sick. But yes, I do blame people who spread highly contagious diseases despite knowing and having access to means to prevent doing so, just as I would blame a coworker who shows up to work sick and gets everyone else sick. To be very clear, that is just my personal opinion. I do not think that there is any responsibility for the government to get involved here and it is entirely up to each person to decide what is best for them. I may disagree with their choice but it is still ultimately their choice. In retrospect, my original post was not worded as eloquently as I would have liked. I worry about the cost not only because of the disproportionate impact that COVID has on the Medicare population, but also because it takes resources away from the hospital and other patients to have to deal with a sudden surge in COVID hospitalizations. But to reiterate, I have my personal feelings toward people who make certain decisions, but those are my personal feelings. You are free to disagree and do as you please.
