Chinese mine causes environmental disaster in zambia on the kafue river

So I was hoping that the Zambian government might surprise me! Nope same old corruption that is still going on.

I live in a copper town. Yes the damage is real and anyone who says it’s not is self serving and only interested in the money in their pockets.

This whole scene reminds me of the disaster (and I don’t use that term lightly) that happened in CO a few years ago. It’s a terrible experience for those who are affected and should serve as a reminder to the rest of us to safeguard our waterways from all threats.

With all that being said mining is a double edged sword that can lead to this but is also necessary if we want cars, computers, electricity, phones, etc. I haven’t figured out how to get around having those things yet.
I think the company's have figured out how to mitigate this, but that being said, their is always a chance, as with everything, their is a gamble. Some companies just do the minimum and hope, or don't care what happens, as long as they make a lot of money, as seems to be the case here.

as long as the brown packetts with the green inside from china get dilivered to certain govenment personel, nothing will happen.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
