Chinese mine causes environmental disaster in zambia on the kafue river

I was asked how this was going...here is the final statement issued just recently by the government..... ...I am not going to comment due to the new cyber security laws in place here now........

This is the release from the usa embassy the other day..its what is probably mentioned in the statement about not making statements to frighten people etc....from my understanding they aren't too happy with the embassy.....

Two things going on there:

1. The spill is worse than the local government and the Chinese are willing to admit.

2. Due to the health risk and the liability of keeping U.S. government employees in the area, the U.S. government is attempting to minimize damages/claims, ie another Camp Lejeune.

What's really horrifying is the long term effects to the local people living in the affected area having little to no choice but to remain, and the long term effects to wildlife.

Dang.
Gotta be pretty bad for the government to do that.

That's not good news at all, but expected.

Been waiting for this to hit international news....

The corporate and geopolitical corruption, as well as taking advantage of socioeconomic differences and lack of education is an egregious crime on Zambians and humanity as a whole. It’s just appalling… I’m sorry to see the evolution of this disaster and hope you and yours manage the impact alright.

I was in South Africa last week and talking to people there only a couple people had heard of this. As long as the world keeps our collective heads in the sand the Chinese will ruin anything they touch.
Don’t look up what US mining companies have done in South America, or what chevron did in the rainforest.
They like to keep that quite just as much a china would

All major countries are guilty in the absolute greed and destruction of wild habitat.

Completely agree!

Yes in Africa but Biden has let them into Central and SouthAmerica and other strategic areas like the Polar water ways! Biden was the open flood gates for China and now we are all paying for it so his kid can smoke more crack!

Your accusation of Chevron is not accurate. Not even close.

Here's a photo of Tony receiving that Shaw & Hunter award at the 1970 annual EAPHA Dinner Dance. Tony Dyer, then EAPHA President and Princess (Sunny) von Auersperg presented it. I also attended the event.
