Cartridges you just hate

I'm surprised most recently when I see .264 WM on the shelf of most gun shops I go into these days.
I would like to have a .264WM eventually, but it seems a larger bore rifle always seems to pop up and pique my interest. It's the "Siren's Song" syndrome, beckoning hapless big bore enthusiasts to the precipice of doom. LOL

Why bother with a .264 WM when they make a 6.5-300 Weatherby now???

Big Weatherby fanboy here...

You should have built a rifle in that wildcat cartridge in the mid ‘60s. You’d have been the only one in Georgia with one. LOL
That's from my 1971 Sierra reloading manual.

Plenty of ammo around now. Ditch the Manbun and get a proper .264 WINCHESTER MAGNUM! LOL
@CoElkHunter
The beauty of the 264 win mag is if'n y'all can't find brass just grab some horrible 338 mag brass and neck it down to a useful cartridge.

Bob,
I agree.

For my two cents, the only thing wrong with the .338 WM cartridge is that it can't hold enough powder to drive a larger bullet anywhere near the velocity that it should.

It suffering from the same anemia that some 35 caliber cartridges suffer from.

Just kidding, just kidding..... ;-)

Never liked the 270 in any form.

Or, 7mm REMINGTON MAGNUM and .300 WINCHESTER MAGNUM necked down brass. AND, if you have a 6.5mm or .350 REMINGTON MAGNUM and need brass, you can cut down, resize and reshape the same brass to make those cases. .458 WINCHESTER MAGNUM cases necked down or .338 WINCHESTER MAGNUM cases necked up, creates the superb .416 TAYLOR cartridge case. The belted .375 HOLLAND and HOLLAND MAGNUM....... the case that keeps on giving life to many other formidable but forgotten cartridges.

Not even the .270 NITRO EXPRESS in a DR?
Well...I could make an exception to that. Any caliber followed by Nitro Express is good in my books lol

Here comes the most boring post on this thread. First off I can’t think of any cartridge that I hate. There are dozens however that I’m just not interested in. Mainly the European and Weatherby cartridges as well as anything developed after 1980 or so. All good but just hold no interest for me. To be honest I’m really not interested in the big bores either. Blasphemy, I know! But I can’t help it.
The ones that do it for me are the common cartridges from my childhood in the 1970s and teen years in the 1980s. I grew up on a farm by a small community in the Canadian prairies. Famous gun writers and hunters were unknown to me. The only hunting magazine that I knew of was the Western Sportsman which had articles submitted by Saskatchewan and Alberta contributors. So the only hunting influences in my life were my father, my friends fathers and other men from my very small hometown. Everyone of these men shot a combination of .308 (my all time, never be without), .270, .30-06, .243, .303, .30-30 and .300 Savage. In my late teens and early 20s I learned of a few more like the 7mmRM, .300 WM, 7mm-08, 35 Whelen, .358 Win and .35 Rem that found a place in my heart. And they are still the ones that I am a staunch supporter of.
But to hate any cartridge I think is really silly. Anybody still awake after reading this! Lol
