Carter's W.A.R.

It on a hunting friendly network so main stream is not really seeing it. He made his money on hunting the animals he shows are there because of hunting. Many ways hunting could be brought in to the show more. I know it is a small step but being truthful on in needs to focus some more hunting is all I am saying.

The general public needs to know more about what hunting means for wildlife.

It's on a hunting friendly network at the moment. I do believe there intentions to bring the message to non-choir members. The ones who watch other more mainstream networks. This requires I think a different strategy. Be patient Bill, in time what you want I think will be there.

I'm sorry Bill, I'm not being clear it appears. The idea is that it GETS to a mainstream network. It WONT get there if it is a hunting show. Then mainstream won't EVER see it because it will always be on a fringe network. By not focusing directly on hunting (as you'd like and candidly that I would too, but we aren't the intended audience) it has a CHANCE to get to mainstream that a hunting show doesn't.

Agree. How do you propose this happens without a medium, in this case the hope of mainstream TV, in order to do so? And remember, if it was as easy as just talking about how hunting helps conservation on a TV show and putting it on a major network it would have been done long ago.

FYI I don't know if it has been mentioned but looking at the DSC show schedule Ivan Carter appears to be coming to DSC and is going to do a presentation on this very thing for season 2.

Does not need to show one animal be hunted. If someone does pick up the show you can be sure what will be able to be change will be limited. If you can talk hunting now and I mean talk it not show it then it will not happen once it gets to network. It is not about throwing out a bunch of pictures of dead animals that have been hunted but showing that hunting pays for the programs.

Hell all the rhino talk on the one show. None of that is there with out hunting dollars. I hope they just figure out the way to lay the real facts out but as of now I just don't think it is all it should be. That's just my take and others can see it for what they want it to be.

Great call out Erik. I don't think it has been mentioned. I'm assuming it's on Friday morning, but do you know for sure? Exact time?

well maybe now with the new pres coming in and with sons who hunt some time will be found on a major network to push the right message for all to see. A bunch of lies to be over come and so many truths to come out to show the public all the good hunting has done and will do.

Hence my thought that I have expressed here many times...The need for a high powered PR firm to promote hunting in the media, internet, press, and Washington. Just my thought.

Friday from 2-3 and sat from 330-430.

Look forward to the new season

I just started watching this show recently. Most of the time it really feels staged to me but I still enjoy watching it anyway.

I really didn't like the TV show at all. I agree it felt staged. It was angled towards a non-hunting audience, skipping some important hunting aspects. But hey, a lot of people watched it and sponsored the show.
I'd rather watch Ivan guide hunters;). He was very entertaining as a PH.

I think many of you are partially correct.
1) it is on a pay cable channel, so not main stream
2) Let's be honest, it will never be on main stream. The antis have such a hold on the major networks that none of them have the balls to go against them (Remember, main stream would be ABC, NBC, CBS or Fox)
3) We should focus more on Internet outlets, such as, YouTube, Vimeo, etc. This is where the younger base is watching and there's an opportunity to reach their open minds before they become closed
4) The videos should give better detail and explanation as to what will save the animals. Don't underestimate the audience. They can sniff out BS pretty easily, and our youth deserve the truth, no matter how harsh they/we think it is

I think I'm in that middle age range of hunters, and I didn't grow up hunting. I picked it up later in life from friends who did not hold back the truth. I soon learned to differentiate the antis BS, from the truth. If we're going to make shows that are supposed to unveil the "truths" about something hunting related, then we need to be straight shooters.

I do not get the Outdoor Channel. Are there any plans to put this series on a DVD?

Watched this week's episode this evening. The show focused on the business model in South Africa of private ownership and how animals are captured. Good show. If you read this @Ivan Carter, not sure I'd want to grab an Impala ram by the horns!

@billc, there was mention of hunting as being part of the business. Not a lot of focus on hunting, but it was mentioned.

Check out MyOutdoorTV. You can stream all the Outdoor Channel shows to your computer, tablet, your phone.

The Forgotton Giants is the best in this series so far. (my opinion of course:D)

In thirty years of teaching high school biology I have been known to show a wildlife video or two on Fridays at school. Whether its the Planet Earth Series, National Geographic Specials, or David Attenborro videos, none of these come close to telling the real story of Africa's people and wildlife like this series does.

Based on his driving in this episode, Ivan could play the role of Pockets in a remake of Hatari.:A Worshipl: "Yes, Bwana"

:A Banana:

Some of his shows really drag me down emotionally. Some pretty sad situations both for animals and for what drives humans to do what they do.

Everyone always thinks about the worst thing that can happen, maybe ask yourself what's the best outcome that could happen?
