Carter's W.A.R.

Thanks Mr. Carter. These people need to hear it time . . . And again.

I will keep watching.

And I think that this is the important point Hank. You nailed it.

Again, and again, and again....

If it takes some extra drama to get people (and hollywood) to watch, so be it!

Here is the episode guide:

Well done Ivan!
I would like to know what happened to the poachers that were being chased, were they caught ,convicted, sentenced, that type of thing, maybe a written paragraph before the credits or something of that nature.

Bob

Ivan, Glad to hear from you… Great topic and title for your new show. A fresh approach and very needed angle for people to grasp what is happening on the grass roots level in Africa concerning conservation and hunting. Congratulations, I'll certainly be watching!

For plenty of us Ivan certainly needs no introduction, however for those of you who aren't familiar with him, here is a bit about his new show and his background...

Meet Ivan Carter The Host(s)

Native son of Zimbabwe, Ivan Carter stands alone as the one man who can peel back the complex layers of African human/wildlife conflict, including rampant poaching of elephants and rhinos. Having grown up in the bush and after 25 years as a professional photographic guide, hunting guide and leading voice of conservation, Carter brings an unmatched breadth and depth of knowledge regarding Africa and her complex political, cultural and human development issues.

Carter’s newest show, Carter's W.A.R. (Wild Animal Response), produced by Shockey Productions, aims to shed new light into the Dark Continent:

"Carter's W.A.R." is the untold story of Carter’s quest to save his homeland—the world's most wild continent. Africa is dying. From heavily armed hoards of poachers butchering elephants for their tusks and rhinos for their horns, to Africa's exploding human population pushing into conflict with dangerous animals, Carter aims to expose the truth and make a difference. This wildlife detective professional hunter takes you inside the real Africa to the front lines of the wars being waged with its wildlife. Can Carter's quest to save Africa succeed? Tune in to Carter's W.A.R. to find out.

Carter’s experience includes:

Youngest person to ever to receive his PG (professional guides) license in Zimbabwe- and one of only 4 to hold professional hunters, canoe guides and safari guide licenses in Zimbabwe.

Holds PH licenses in Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Botswana and Mozambique and fluently speaks 2 different African languages.

Owned and operated an photographic safari business for 12 years (1992 -2004) that employed almost 80 employees and serviced 500 clients annually.

Co-Host of “As Close as You Dare”, a wildlife documentary focused on close up big game encounters across Zimbabwe, Botswana, Uganda and Tanzania. featured on PBS in 2008 and 2009.

Winner of Outdoor Channel’s Golden Moose Award for “Best General Interest” show in 2013 as well as being nominated for “Best Big Game” and “Best Comedy” in the same season.

Host and co-producer of an extensive library of DVD’s on dangerous game hunting and conservation through hunting in Africa.

Rated by Condé Nast Traveler as of Africa’s top 10 guides (non-hunting).

Field expert in double gun use for dangerous game hunting – instructor at SAAM Safari Shooting School in Texas.

Chosen by the US Marine Corps as a subject matter expert on the development of the “Combat Hunter” course. This course was designed to train snipers and front line infantrymen in the arts of tracking, observation and “hunting techniques” on the front line of combat – Carter travelled to Iraq and was the only civilian allowed into combat scenarios in a fully armed military capacity.

Lectured at Stanford University on the subject of elephant populations, tourism impacts and biological adaptations.

Guest speaker for Fortune 500 companies including Chevron, Texaco on the subject of impact of human activities on the environment.

What a guy! Next life maybe!!!

Hank,

I've always admired your dedication! :)
Whatever it takes Royal, whatever it takes. Sacrifice is what I do. Day in and day out. What other type of person would trade Calgary winters for Maui sunshine?;)

None! Dealing with the potential for sunburn or standing tall as an ostrich charges you're always in the thick of it! :A Big Thanx::A Big Thanx:

thanks hank for the feedback , i am sorry if you found it over dramatic -

regarding hunting i think that the very much more subtle approach is very important here as we seek to get more and more non hunters to watch , the fact that i say multiple times i am a hunter and conservationist will in fact i believe carry the message that hunters can do a lot of good , i have been doing multiple radio interviews , as well as attending several "non hunting" television functions , in fact this weekend i will be in LA at a TV critics association press conference and i can assure you those critics and reporters are looking to bring up hunting and i will have ample opportunity to point out the good hunters do - here is an article from hollywood , i can assure you the word hunter in hollywood is not often associated with such a positive article .. http://thehollywoodtimes.net/2015/12/28/carters-w-a-r-on-the-outdoor-channel/

thank you so much for your comment i appreciate you taking the time -
kind regards
imc
Ivan, your approach is correct. I've spent over 25 years in the classroom teaching biology. Most of the videos that are used in the classroom lump poachers and hunters together. Rarely do we finish one of these videos because I am constantly stopping it and correcting the narrator. Your series and Shockey's uncharted is giving me some proper resources. Unfortunately most of our youth and many of our young teachers only understand wildlife from what they see on Animal planet.
Me, as I write this I am doing whitetail deer population survey in Throckmorton Tx. Ok got to go there is a deer

wish you the best of success on your new show in getting the POINT across.the antis already know the truth but will never admit it,its the rest of the non hunters who need to hear and believe the truth for us to get them on our side and that of the wild life.

I couldn't agree more.

Definitely a start on the resources. As as been said on AH more times than I can count we've been quiet way too lomg, but these shows are a great starting point for turning that around. Hopefully the new NRA initiative will help with this as well.

Ok got to go there is a deer

Are you counting or shooting??? :E Big Grin:

Just watched another great episode of Carter's War! This one in particular was of great interest to me as Ivan was tracking elephant in the greater Kruger area. For those who have not watched this episode you don't want to miss seeing a massive bull elephant with amazing ivory!

Good job Ivan!

I've watched two episodes and they are great...Good info ..Good job Ivan !

Hi Jay,

Hope you're well.

I'm headed your way in January.

Attending SHOT Show has been a long time bucket list item for me.

Finally made it happen and I'm headed to Vegas.

I know you're some distance from Vegas - but would be keen to catch up if it works out.

Have a good one.

Mark
