Cape Eland & Livingstone Eland Pictures

That is an old bruiser who has lived a full life and survived many tough situations that Mother Nature threw his way. Well done.

Took this Livingston in Mozambique this past Fall. I flubbed the shot, we then tracked all day over 11 miles and I was fortunate that my PH was able to finish him right before dark as he was about to leave the concession and head into Zimbabwe. Yep first eland and a case of Eland Fever when I saw him!

No pictures to contribute yet, but I'm pumped to get into some eland in Namibia in 2026. Massive in size and cool factor.

And since I haven’t shot a Cape Eland (yet) this Lord Derby will have to suffice.

This old guy was awfully smart. The Eland mixed with a bunch of Zebra which I was told they are apt to do. I spent all morning trying to get within rifle range of this old Bull without luck, the Zebra's kept them fidgety and moving. Finally my Pro figured he knew where they were heading and we got on the trail ahead of them and waited hoping for the best. The Bull pushed all his females thru the clearing first but I knew the one I wanted and we waited him out. Finally he came thru at a trot and I broke his shoulder with the 300 grn A-frame out of the .375.

A follow up quickly ended his pain and gave the old guy the honorable death he deserved. He was delicious on the Barbie that night, which surprised me. I could have ate off him for the entire hunt. It really was a thrilling stalk.

My PH's 30,000 hectare property (Hankano Ranch) in Gwaii bordered Whange National Park. He sold all of my meat (that we didn't eat) to the park restaurant...
except my Buff...we traveled to Chirisa concession for that, as he had drawn a hard to get Bull permit for me.
Best

Morning Rob, Any feeling for how the 300 H&H shoots? How's the barrel condition?

Hello. I see you hunted with Sampie recently. If you don't mind me asking, where did you hunt with him? Zim or SA? And was it with a bow? What did you hunt?

I am possibly going to book with him soon.
Currently doing a load development on a .404 Jeffrey... it's always surprising to load .423 caliber bullets into a .404 caliber rifle. But we love it when we get 400 Gr North Fork SS bullets to 2300 FPS, those should hammer down on buffalo. Next up are the Cutting Edge solids and then Raptors... load 200 rounds of ammo for the customer and on to the next gun!
