Here is a sneak peek of our video from our most recent safari with Limcroma Safaris courtesy of Bush Bro Productions. We hope you enjoy it.

Looking forward to the rest !

@rinehart0050 ,

Henk is doing the final editing and production. Drian Laas was our videographer. Besides himself, Henk has 3 or 4 professional videographers working for him who are also PHs. I think the cameramen also being hunters is a tremendous advantage to be able to fully understand and capture the details of a safari from a hunter's perspective. I don't think a non-hunter cameraman would be able to capture the same footage.

Here is the full video, and it's pretty awesome!

Wow, just watched the video. I have a couple questions.

Was your wife shooting your bow on the giraffe? With the PH helping her draw it back, I was guessing that was not her normal hunting bow. What was the draw length and draw weight?

It looks like she was using the 950 grain GrizzlyStik momentum arrows. I was a bit concerned when I saw the penetration on that arrow, but she was dead on with the placement.

And what was the DL/DW on your Cape buffalo gear? It looks like you probably hit a rib - did you get the broadhead recovered? I shot my Cape buffalo with a different BH, but I have some of the Ashby 315's that you use and just ordered a dozen of the 950 grain arrows for my giraffe next month.

Awesome video and thank you for sharing!!

@mrpoindexter ,

The giraffe hunt was not originally planned... When the opportunity arose for my wife to take a giraffe, we discussed our options with the PHs and they didn't think her personal set-up of 52lbs. with a 650 grain arrow had enough momentum to be effective on a giraffe even with a frontal shot. I had never realized before this hunt how thick and tough a giraffe's hide actually is... Almost 1/2" on the shoulder....I came up with the idea of her trying to shoot my bow with the set-up for the Cape buffalo.... She could not draw back 72lbs. by herself, but she could hold the let-off comfortably. She has a long draw length for a woman @ 28". With me @29", I figured she may be able to obtain a reasonable anchor point and see through my peep. She practiced with my bow for over an hour and was shooting extremely well out to 35 yards or so... Myself, and both PHs felt very comfortable with her making this attempt as long as she could get a frontal shot.

As you can see, it worked out nicely. The penetration is deceiving from the video. She actually got about 20" of penetration hitting the artery just above the heart. The arrow backed itself out almost immediately, and there was relatively little blood on the ground and on the arrow itself. It went about 200-300 yards before falling over stone dead.

The details of both of our set-ups are described in the full hunting report if you haven't already checked it out. Thanks for the post!

@PARA45 ,

Thanks for posting the video for me...!

I was getting around to it... I wanted to watch it once myself first.. ;)

Oh sorry, I hope I didn't spoiled anything. I happened to stumble on it, and post it without thinking. Well done, and beautiful footage with some great trophies too.

I hunted elephant with Luke Samaris in 2005. It was my fourth safari and I tell you he is a fine gentleman the best. I got the opportunity to meet Patty Curtis, although never hunted with him but enjoyed our conversation around our tent in the Selous. Very sad for a tough guy to leave this world the way he did. Let’s pray the murderers are caught. I hope to see Luke in Nashville.
