Ok we have a request,
Congratulations. Like to see some pictures of the game.
Sierra Game King 165g Impala,

The GK's worked really well, I dropped a Kudu Cow at 225m the GK wasn't recovered as it was clean through, the exit was impressive.

The Blue Wildebeest,
RWS 224 KS,

My husband has deep respect for Wildebeest, they are tough animals!

Oryx, again RWS 224 KS,

IMG-20250331-WA0002~2.jpg

This animal was quartering away and was shot just inside of the right shoulder 75m and only went a short distance.

8x68 224g is a great combination bearing in mind the cartridges were 20 years old.

These three taken in Limpopo this March we were hosted by Baobab Safaris but we were hunting with EasiAfrica Safaris, we had a great time!
I may share the Lion photos later?

6.5 Creedmoor and Nosler Ballistic-Tip 120 gr reloaded with Vihtavuori N555 at ~ 870 m/s (2854 f/s).

I was waiting in a little meadow for a fox, but a nice wild boar decided to cross it at around 100 meters. No time to switch the Nosler against a Barnes TTSX !
I wistled the animal that stopped. I aimed the shoulder and at the impact, the boar dropped on the spot, but it stood up and ran toward the hedge that was very close. My dog, who is usually very quiet, ran to the place where the boar disapeared and started to bark immediately.
He bayed it, and I was thinking the animal was still alive. I ran to the place to help my dog but fortunately, the boar was already stone dead. It ran less than 20 meters before expiring.

When I skinned it, I recovered the bullet under the skin, just behind the opposite shoulder. It is just the rear part of the jacket, without its lead core.

Pigs are dense and as we see can push a ballistic tip to their limit.

Calibre : 416 Rigby
bullet: Woodleigh Weldcore 450 Grain Bonded Round Nose
Velocidade: 2.290 f/s
Distância: 40 metros
Peso original: 350 gr
Peso retido: -
Espécie: Water Buffalo

A low shoulder shot hit the heart and both lungs, stopping in the skin on the opposite side. The buffalo ran 30 meters, took cover in the thick brush, and faced us. It took three more shots from .375 solid caliber rounds, two in the chest, and one in the head, before falling. The animal weighed almost a ton

The Nosler ballistic tip isn't a bonded bullet and is far from the best for game such as pig and wild boar. For that type of game, a bonded or partition or an all copper bullet would be far better. The ballistic tip is good for light game; deer, antelope...

Wow! How come the Rigby wasn’t used for the follow up shots? Perfectly mushroomed bullet BTW.

Well done. I'd say with a hole like that in his heart he was not long for this world. Certainly long enough to have charged you.

I hunted many buffalo as a hunter and then more than a hundred as a guide, and I've never seen a "machine" like the buffalo, they can handle everything and want to take you with them at the end! I have stories of buffalo hunts that if I told them, many people wouldn't believe me.

A 400-grain 416 A-Frame and a 300-grain Nosler Partition in 375! Both fired at the same buffalo, on different sides of the shoulder! It's impossible to know which one killed him, but the A-Frame's depth and weight retention were greater! After the first 375 shot, he walked a few meters and turned toward us. I caught him at that turn with the good old Ruger with open sights! He collapsed and died quickly!

Have you ever seen that ?

It happened to me a while back during a management hunting.

I shot a wildebeest cow at 426 meters (465 yards) with my R93 in .300 Winchester magnum and a Nosler Accubond 180 gr. The bullet hit the wildebeest just behind the shoulder, exactly were I aimed and the animal didn't go far.

We were surprised to see the rear part of my bullet sticking out of the wildebeest skin on the opposite side.
I was almost sure the animal was full broadside, but it seems not or maybe because the bullet tumbled, it didn't have a straight line penetration ?
However, both lungs were ponctionned so the shot was not too back.

I have seen 2 other cases on photos but that's it.

This has happened to me twice, but not with buffaloes but with wild boars! bullet Hornady SST 150 grains in 270 win

Couple more bullets from our recent hunt.
500 NE
MV 2150
Woodleigh Hydro 570 gr in elephant and hippo
Swift aframe 570 gr in buffalo.
Looks like the Hydros meet some serious bone especially the one on the left. Got to love those AFrames.

SSTs are an interesting bullet. They kill quickly but there is no perfectly mushroomed bullet to take a picture of. I’ve shot SSTs, 140s in a 270, 165s in an 06 and 154s in a 7 mag for deer and pronghorn antelope for 25 years. Animal is either DRT or gives a hop and takes a few steps and goes down.

This bullet is what’s left of a 154 SST from a 7 mag on a pronghorn antelope. Quartering shot was at 200 yards so impact velocity was about 2700 FPS. Bullet hit the shoulder and exited behind the offside shoulder. I saw the pass through impact in the field behind the animal. What I actually saw was the bullet core because the bullet jacket was caught in a rib in the exit wound. Antelope was DRT so I can’t say the bullet failed. They work well on deer and pronghorn. I load Nosler accubond or partitions for bigger game.

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
