Prvi Partizan 173Gr round nosed soft point fired from my 7x57mm Mauser Churchill Gun Makers Model Deluxe at Axis stag. Broadside heart shot through shoulder bone/scapula.

Bullet was recovered from the interior side of the opposite shoulder. Stag went 14 yards before dropping stone dead.

Hunter-Habib,

I have read your fondness for the old Winchester 175gr bullet for the 7X57mm Mauser, a couple years ago I bought a new in it's box 1951 year model Winchester model 70 in 7x57, another man associated with the buy sent me three boxes of the very old Winchester 7X57 ammunition in the blue, red and yellow boxes.

I was afraid of the ammunition, powder/primer strength reliability etc, didn't want to chance a hang-fire, I pulled those bullets, dumped the powder in the trash, popped the primers out and resized the brass cases, primed with new CCI-BR2 primers, H-4350 and 175gr Northfork bullets, the rifle is wonderfully accurate at 2655 fps, bullets guided to target just fine with an old Unertl Hawk fixed 4X rifle scope.

I guess I went a long way around the barn to say, if you're coming to the USA to attend a show, or have a contact here in the states that's going to travel over and hunt with you I'll send you/them those bullets if you want them, factory Winchester 175 grains with a large amount of exposed lead on the nose of the bullets.

Just let me know, take care Sir,

50Gunner

Received this back from one of the PH’s field testing my new .243 85gr bullet

“85gr SBC 6mm bullet, recovered from a blesbuck ram, shot at ±250m. Blesbuck was quartering away, bullet entered far back, behind rib cage and was recovered in opposite shoulder. Muzzle velocity: ±3200fps.

Recovered weight: 81.9gr (96.4%)
Expanded diameter: 11.8mm (1,9x)

Big performance from a little bullet.”

2.17.25
338 WM, 210 Barnes TTSX reload.
South Texas Nilgai Bull. Near South shoreline of Baffin Bay.
~550 lbs live weight per my guide (my swag was 500).
Ranged distance: 49 yards. DA around negative (-) 800 feet. Temp ~59*F.
MV 2,889 fps. Impact V ~2,787 fps. Impact energy ~3,623 ft lbs.

Shot went through right shoulder and left rib (just behind shoulder), and stopped against tough elastic hide. Perfect mushroom. Guessing near 100% Retained weight, but won't know until I get home. 2nd pic is where it was cut out of the hide.

Bull ran about 75 yards and was dead when we found him.

Reza Call me any time you want to talk about Elephant. hunting and CMS.
I've hunted two Elephant with CMS.
In 13 African safari's and an equal number of North American hunts, BUZZ is the best guide I have ever hunted with.
