A similar thing happened to a fellow Marine- the Marine had an M16, 5.56mm FMJ spitzer that were either 50 or 55gr, I forget which. the NVA were overrunning our compound, the NVA soldier was about 25 yards away, running toward the Marine. The Marine shot hit the NVA in his left abdomen, the bullet exited at the same level but on the right side and nearly hit the Marine. Strange thing happen when bullets hit irregular materials.The bullet got him in the midlle (RED CIRCLE), turn and was about to exit fron shloulder (GREEN CIRCLE) to the SAME side!! So is like turn,
That's the first I have heard of an expanding bullet of that size taking the scenic route.
