Curious ... I'm taking a bow with me to RSA in May. For others who have taken bows over there, do you take any kind of light weight padded case to protect it in the truck? Just carry it in your lap?

The plan is spot and stalk (no blinds / water holes) so I anticipate there will be some mileage in the vehicle.

The rifle carriers I am familiar with from most hunt trucks don't seem like they would be very kind to an unprotected bow -- lots of swinging, bouncing, and banging.

Hi Matt,

Your assumption above is correct.... Most of the time it's a rough ride in the bakkies, and most of the rifle racks will not work with a bow... I personally keep my bow in my lap or wrap it up in my extra clothing layers for the bakkie rides. A soft case certainly wouldn't hurt, provided that you have the room in your luggage which can be at a premium with most traveling hunters who have to prioritize what they bring with them... If you don't want to take any chances, bring your hard case along in the bakkie. There is usually enough room in the bed or back seat for a bow case especially if you are hunting 1x1.... (y)

Thanks Hannes. I'll be in the back of one of your bakkies, so there is probably no better guidance! :) Cheers.

Actually it's Dan.... But, I hunt more than Hannes with a bow so I wouldn't steer you wrong...

LOL. Thanks Dan!

Unfortunately, the sight has to come off the bow to go in the case, so it pretty much eliminates that option.
