For those who are thinking of mounting an RMR on a Blaser R8. This is the Trijicon 1 MOA RMR on a RM60 QD mount. It is easily mounted and dismounted with the push of a lever. Holds zero perfectly when mounted and dismounted as well. Line of sight is very low, so it gives you a very good cheek weld on the stock. It seems to be a very sturdy mount, that will hopefully withstand the recoil of the 458WM it's mounted on.

Probably a silly question, but you do have iron sights on it as well...right?

Very Nice! I would like to find a similar setup for my Ruger No. 1 in 416RM, but all ive found thus far is a burris fastfire mount. Great looking setup you have there!

I would think there's got to be a Ruger mount made for an RMR. It's such a common firearm, you'd think that would be a given. Have you looked on the Trijicon website?

I don’t even own a Ruger No 1 and I looked at the Trijicon website…nada.

I was also surprised. There has to be some aftermarket Ruger No 1 website out there that makes one.

Thanks for the reply. I have checked the Trijicon website and done some basic research online and cant seem to find any RMR mount for the Ruger No 1 (at least not made by Trijicon). Best I have been able to find, as far as optics manufactures' mounts, is the Burris Fastfire reflex site mount specifically made for Ruger No 1:

The fastfire doesnt look bad, but I would prefer a Trijicon. I guess ill have to do a bit more research

I guess ill just have to get an R8 with an RMR then lol, b/c that setup looks great TOBY! I particularly like the QD function and your confirmation that it holds zero when taken off/put back on. Do let us know how it holds up to the recoil. Should be a great DG Combo!

I had a Fastfire that failed on a 44 mag. Not sure if it was an isolated incident, but I believe the RMR is a more robust sight.

TOBY, thanks for the first hand account. I always find the most value from someone who has used a product; needless to say I will be giving that a second thought if I end up going the route of reflex sight. Thanks again for the info - No doubt trijicon makes rock solid products.

I have the same sight mounted on a Winchester M70 375H&H...because I have the same problem with seeing the open sights like I should. I really like the sight. Quick acquisition.

Appreciate you posting. I was wondering if the the comb would be low enough for an rmr on the blaser. Glad to know that it is

Quick question, does this sit low enough that you can see your iron sights when looking thru the RMR. Thanks in advance.

I've got 5 Fastfire 3 red dot Holographic sights on a 10 gauge, 2 12 gauges, and 2 20 gauges that we hunt turkey with and never had a problem. Maybe it was a one off or I have been lucky.

I had a Vortex Venom on my SBE2 for turkey hunting and it worked for a couple of years, then without warning it crapped out on me. Fortunately I was able to scrounge up some tools to remove it and the iron sights worked fine. For the record, my turkey gun weighs 7 lbs and with 3.5" turkey loads has more violent recoil than any rifle I've ever shot. Been using the iron sights for turkey ever since.

Well, your eyes are better than mine. I have been using the fast fire on turkey guns for about the last five years. I can’t see iron sites well enough anymore to make accurate shots and so moved to the red dot because of that.
I’m shooting a 10 gauge 3 1/2 inch TSS 9 shot and I can tell you it kicks harder than my 505 Gibbs :-)

Nice. I'm using Federal Heavyweight TSS 3.5", 7 shot, 2 1/4 oz and I'm (with my current vision) capable of taking birds out to 70 yards with clean kills.

In the future I may go back to a reflex sight, but the only ones I'd consider are the Trijicon RMR and SRO. The failure rate on these is so low, it might as well be zero. The major reason I don't have one is that I use the same shotgun for goose and sometimes even clays. Just a PITA to keep putting the sight on and off when the irons work for me.

@TOBY458 - apologies for the detour. Maybe we can get Palehorse Zero or J. Sip to make a 20 bore Blaser barrel so I can make it my turkey gun and put a RMR on it.

I wonder why there isn’t a shotgun barrel for the R8.

I was thinking it has something to do with the magazine and how it would feed. Or it would have to be a single shot.
