@Hunting Hitman - Every Blaser receiver (steel or aluminum) is capable of shooting calibers from 17HMR to 500J as long as the barrel channel is able to accommodate the barrel profile.
Barrel profiles are 17mm (standard), 19mm (semi-weight) and 22mm (safari & Selous). The 500J only comes from Blaser in 22mm profile.
The safari stock comes with a steel receiver and I also believe a kickstop. At least that’s what mine came with in 2019. The kickstop is in the butt of the stock and can be had in a couple different weights. The one I had was 16 oz but I’ve seen 12 oz ones as well.
The steel receiver is typically added for weight considerations because of the larger cartridges having more recoil. Another reason is the 22mm barrel can make the rifle barrel heavy and the addition of the steel receiver adds some balance back between the hands.
I found that the kickstop and steel receiver to make for a rifle that was very well balanced but too heavy for my liking. I sold the rig in favor of a lightweight 375H&H that’s still easy shooting for me.
