Blaser R8 for Dangerous Game

I believe an AH member has a 300PRC R8 barrel, but I'm having trouble remembering who it was. Not sure of the similarities between the two, but I believe they share the same parent case.
300PRC is a completely different animal.

@Philip Glass...I believe he was looking at a 6.5PRC barrel for an R8. I'll send him a PM.

I bought my 6.5 PRC barrel from Van at Topdog Guns. Great guy and excellent service.

I have looked at buying one for mine. 6.5PRC runs on a magnum bolt face. It has the ability to be ran in a short action configuration. The reason I looked at it was so that I did not have to worry about the bolt.

Have ran the PRC in other platforms, it requires a magnum bolt face.

Not sure where to ask this but I’m thinking of picking up a 6.5 prc barrel for my r8. In the barrel guide it says standard bolt face I thought 6.5 prc needed a magnum bolt face? .532 am I wrong standard is .473. I have a magnum bolt now was hoping I wouldn’t need to purchase a standard
The magnum bolt head is what you need.

Lapua makes it now too, it's unfortunately like everything else. If it's ammo or reloading related. You can find it, just going to cost a little more.
All of these fairly new cartridge offerings is mind boggling! You wake up the next morning and another one is "born". Nosler, Hornady, Lapua, etc., it never ends! The neighbor next door bought the 6.5PRC and paid about $75/box for ammo and can't find any brass for his buddy to reload it for him. Crazy times!

@CoElkHunter
Stop complaining you paid $89 for a box of 338 wimpchester mag.

Actually, the last box of those super premium 225gr. Core Lokts I bought several years ago were $52/box. $89/box for ANYTHING .338WM would be a bargain right now.

Hello,
For those having used both, how would you say the blaser case compares to a pelican case?
Would you trust the blaser case to put your riffle in a plane?
Thanks!
I’ve got and use both….which one I use depends on the circumstances.
On the occasions that I have used the Blaser case, that case has been inside a suitcase. Which enables me to carry more gear, generally cold weather gear, without the expense of additional baggage fees. Also comes in handy when travelling down town or booking into hotels without everyone knowing what you have. I would not throw my Blaser case into a commercial flight without the added protection of the suitcase.
I have traveled from Australia to Alaska with both Blaser and Pelican cases without any issues.

I have both, although the Blaser branded case is for a shotgun. I would use it for traveling in a vehicle where I’m in control of it the entire time however airline travel is a completely different story. My wife and I each have Pelican 1700 cases for this purpose.

As for people knowing or not knowing what’s in the Pelican/Blaser case…not much I can do about that. I just do my best to not draw attention to myself.

My thoughts has always been 2 rifles ..2 actions now in all my years of hunting I have never had a failure in the field. However have witnessed a few ....In other news $9000 would pay for a nice trip to Africa .....so i will stick with my Parker Hale ...Yes I am tighter that a ducks....

The Blaser case, actually a Negrini, is great for the truck and the range but not really for airplanes, no matter what they say. For that, Pelican is the minimum - and I've had a Pelican crushed and broken by the airlines. Caseline and Impact Case are both excellent replacements for Americase
