AUSTRALIA: Backpack Sambar stag hunt

So bloody well done mate.
That word “helipad” has a certain ring to it:unsure:

Thanks mate!
Haha yeah it would certainly save some grunt work! ;)

The helipad alone is a 1.5 hour drive from the nearest sealed road, then camp is a 16km hike up & down from there. The whole thing is probably half an hour in a bellyflopper ;)

Congratulations Tim on a very hard earned trophy. I know it has been high on your list for many years. Just having gone on my first sambar hunt (under much tamer conditions) it has given me a true appreciation of the environment and terrain these giant deer call home in the high country. Well done mate-a huge achievement.

Fantastic looking country! I don't think elk hunting can top that. I would love to find a place to hunt critters like that way off the grid. Was it hard for you to get a license?
No problem getting a license, as Sambar are introduced, they are 1 step away from vermin.

Appreciate it, thanks mate. They are certainly a worthy challenge, and I'm still pinching myself at finally taking a respectable stag! ;)
