AUSTRALIA: Backpack Sambar stag hunt

So bloody well done mate.
That word “helipad” has a certain ring to it:unsure:

Thanks mate!
Haha yeah it would certainly save some grunt work! ;)

The helipad alone is a 1.5 hour drive from the nearest sealed road, then camp is a 16km hike up & down from there. The whole thing is probably half an hour in a bellyflopper ;)

Congratulations Tim on a very hard earned trophy. I know it has been high on your list for many years. Just having gone on my first sambar hunt (under much tamer conditions) it has given me a true appreciation of the environment and terrain these giant deer call home in the high country. Well done mate-a huge achievement.

Appreciate it, thanks mate. They are certainly a worthy challenge, and I'm still pinching myself at finally taking a respectable stag! ;)

Well he's probably 46" by now :)
@Tim Blackwell
I will never know because of that prick that stole the property I hunted. The only redeeming thing is he can't hunt it either because the property was sold.
I would still like to meet that prick in a dark alley and give him the good news

How about nonresident licenses?
I’m not sure. As an interstate resident I just applied online.

I believe there are further requirements for international visitors.

That will vary by state but I believe some states require that you are booked with an outfitter for an international hunter to bring firearms for hunting.

Victoria probably offer more options and freedom for hunters. At least as far as public land access goes and as Tim and I are in different states that border Victoria it’s a good option for free range deer.

I’m not sure on bringing or carrying your own firearms in Australia if you are moving around.
