Anyone shooting forked horns as trophies

Not opposed to it if it's a big mature deer and would definitely pull the trigger on that one! Never killed a big straight forky, these are as close to a big mature forky I've found.

Looks like that bottom one has been dead for a long time. His eyeballs are gone.

These were both fine bucks and I didn't hesitate. Top one shot last year only has three on one side. The other was shot four years ago within sight of where last year's dropped. Both were very large deer. Difficult shots too. The 3x3 I shot on the run at ~70 yards and flattened him.

Not great wall hangers but good hunts and good eating. Montana public land and neither required two days to fill the tag.

Forgot I passed this old guy up twice(archery and rifle) he was blind in one eye. Had a 190" buck I was hunting in the same spot.

Another old 2 point from some years ago, guided a friend to him. Teeth worn flat, it was his last year, he was emaciated. Prob 8+ years old.

We call these deer culls. Because animals this size, even half these sizes, basically any buck over 2 years old and still not symmetrical is determined, right or wrong, as having bad genetics.

When I first read the title something else entirely came to mind - namely big pronghorns I’ve seen a ton of “older” or mature mule deer forks over the years. 99.9% if not 100% of them would in no way be considered a “trophy”. They are generally old and malnourished or suffering an injury or illness or something is genetically wrong with them. So… I dunno? Seems a subjective call.
